I think they really missed Gay in this series. They played so well without him, but for the first time it was pretty apparent that they need a guy who can close out games and take over. No doubt that Memphis will be back next season. They just need a few more pieces to boost the offense a bit

Honestly, I don't know that Rudy would have helped all that much. When Randolph and Conley struggle like they did this series, it puts too much pressure on everyone else. Rudy could've helped, but I don't know that it would have been enough

Our rebounding was pretty atrocious tonight, but the freethrow shooting discrepancy really kept them in it. 24-13 in attempts in favor of Memphis, but total fouls was 25-22 San Antonio. 3 more fouls=9 more freethrows?

Average series for Gasol, terrible series for Randolph. Spurs dominated them for the most part. Can't win with 2 of your big 3 pieces not playing at the top of their game.

I am not much of a fan of Holt, but the Spurs have the best in their GM [RC Buford] and Pop.

Memphis needs an elite wing scorer. Having Tony Allen and Tayshaun is great, but two wing defenders without offensive skills kills you. So when you play a team like the Spurs with good interior defense like Duncan/Splitter, and your guys can't get their shots, you can't rely on your 2/3 to get you buckets or hit threes.

That is the only glaring weakness.

Can't argue with this at all, Allen and Prince are anchors offensively and that is 40% of our starting lineup, and we don't have a lot of firepower off the bench once you get past Bayless (streaky) and Pondexter (who was probably our MVP of this series offensively).

Tony Parker is amazing and has upped his game every year. I hope Conley can progress in the same mold but he is going to need some shooters to help space the floor.

Interesting stats of the night.

TP shot 71% from the field to get 37 points.
Leonard had 11 points on 5-7 shooting, plus 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
Duncan had 15 and 8 with 4 blocks.

Pondexter had 22 points and shot 3-6 from three and 7-11 from the field.
Memphis' starting five went 18-55 (33%) from the field. Gasol had the best FG% among starters at 42%.

San Antonio was outscored by 5 from the free throw line in spite of shooting 92% to Memphis' 71%.

I like Holt a lot. Just for the simple fact that he doesn't micromanage. He lets basketball guys take care of basketball operations.

Tony Parker scored 37 points. The rest of the Spurs starters scored 40. The Memphis starters combined outscored Parker by just 11 points.
