We all know why he got fired. It has nothing to do with throwing an errant bounce pass at a kid's feet. Coaches do far worse stuff than that every day.

Like what? The guy hurled a basketball from 5 feet away at a kids head. Maybe if you run them over with a car that is far worse. Or maybe setting them on fire. Far worse? You tell me.

Meh - I've played dodgeball - no big deal. Reprehensible, and a total lack of self control, but no big deal. We all know why he got fired.

Ok... so Dodgeball is no big deal to you. What about instead of playing Dodgeball though you were mowing the grass at the house and missed a spot and your wife chucked a basketball at you while you weren't looking? Or how about your boss does it when you turn in a report with a grammatical error in it while you aren't looking? Better yet, they both calls you names like 'F******' and 'c***' or lob personal attacks at you vs. critique your work? Sure those still wouldn't be a big deal do you, right?

To do the stuff he's done, you have to be a pretty f***** up person to execute. Those actions are all demeaning and incredibly disrespectful in the context of a basketball practice (vs. your ridiculous comparison to a dodgeball game).

I mean come on... that's why things like whistles, wall sits, shuttle runs, and pushups were invented and incorporated into practice.

Dude is an ass clown. No point in shoving a player in the back as hard as possible. He thinks his position of power allows him to be a ********.

The difference between Mike Rice and Bear Bryant was winning. It's a lot easier to gloss over things like this when you're winning. Now, I think this guy should be fired either way. But his being a mediocre coach with mediocre results made it a lot easier to terminate him. I don't think anyone is naive enough to think this is an isolated incident. I'm pretty sure Bob Knight has some pretty good practice footage somewhere.

But again, winning takes care of everything. Word to Tiger.

Even if you are winning, there are probably 2 words that will get you fired for saying them on tape...unless, of course, you are a member of one of those 2 groups.
