He's a great fit on paper, but if the Rockets start racking up L's, I can see Harden checking out.

Came from a winning ball club with chemistry and role in place. I think this thing has a Trevor Arizaness to it if Morey doesn't get another big piece.

Harden is better off the ball. Some dude on Grantland broke it down with stats and video last preseason. I was surprised at the results.

Lin isn't ball-centric? Huh?

Ariza is more comparable to Lin IMO. Both made big paychecks off of about a 10 game stretch. Harden is proven.

Perfect comparison. I really hope that this deal with Lin works out, but I have my doubts. With Harden, however, he has been putting up all star numbers since he's been in the league.

Not comparing Harden and Ariza as players as Harden is clearly a superior player. Comparing their previous teams and situation upon arriving in Houston. We all know Ariza didn't have his heart in it the second he suited up and came as a free agent.

I like Harden, but he has never put up All-Star numbers in the NBA. Ever.

Well he was the 6th man having to share the ball with Durant and Westbrook. So yea I think in Houston where there isn't anybody dominant like that he will put up all star numbers

"Will" is a lot different than "he has been putting up all star numbers since he's been in the league."

Obviously, the potential to do so in Houston is high. But let's not act like he was setting the league on fire since coming in. He's only really come on since the 2011 playoffs. And the last I saw, he basically disappeared during the 2012 playoffs.

We'll see this year, I guess.

So having Durant & Westbrook occupying the defense & best defenders hurt his numbers?

Who is going to draw the defense in to give him the open 3's & lanes to the basket that he was so efficient with in OKC?

He came off the bench for a reason. He was often called on to carry the offense while Durant and Westbrook took a breather.

I don't have the numbers in front of me, but he usually wasn't subbing in for either of those guys. Now he definitely would be on the court with either of them out, but they played most of their minutes together.

harden pretty much destroyed the mavs by himself in the playoffs last year.

he can drive, penetrate and dish, or score. people think he is a 6th man because thats the role he has been asked to play.

this is a steal for houston.

Also because he won 6th Man of the Year.

Sometimes 6th men are just that, time will tell with Harden. How many times have people got excited over a dynamite first guy off the bench, thought he could be the alpha elsewhere, and that failed?

could they have taken a nerdier looking picture than this?

You know it was a good trade for Houston when the other fan bases are upset and trying to poke flaws at it. If it didn't make Houston better then they wouldn't try to argue about it.

Well the Spurs fans for some reason cant avoid a Rockets thread if their life depended on it. Their overly egotistical attitude due to a couple recent championships gets really annoying. They are no more than any other fans.. homers. Let them talk.

Poor Mazag can't talk about the trade, so he just passive aggressively attacks other posters.

Typical showing.

The Spurs are on life support, as evidenced by their epic collapse against OKC last year. Once ol Timmy boy and Emmanuel Ginobili can't move their old legs anymore, the Spurs will be back in the cellar. And I doubt it'll be too long before that happens.

Cool story bro. Let's talk about the Rockets on the Rockets thread. Spurs thread is down the hall.

I talked about the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City trade on the first and second page of this thread. Very, VERY nice try though.

The $60 mil was the max on a 4 year deal that OKC would be able to give him.

The Rox gave him that, plus added a year to make it a clean 5 yr, $80M Max.

Was this ever in doubt? They had to pay him enough to ensure he wouldn't test free agency
