Is Buck Harvey usually accurate?

Would never happen, but he would be a perfect fit for one last San Antonio run.

The Spurs really need another aging injury-prone power forward. KG's contract is also over 20 million per year, which means he will be tough for the Spurs to afford even with a smaller contract.

If they get anyone from the Celtics, it should be Ray Allen. I'm no contract guru so maybe it wouldn't work, but he would be a great fit. Smart player, great shooter, steady nerves in the playoffs, great off screens, ability to finish at the rim, and the contract now ending is just $10 million per year so if he WANTS to go to San Antonio to make another run the Spurs could probably afford him.

Ray Allen looked absolutely horrible during these playoffs. Couldn't guard anyone. Missed free-throws and open jumpers when they were needed most. His performance was spotty at best. I think he registered career lows across the board for the playoffs, shooting percentages included.

Garnett would be a perfect alternate/complement in the middle for San Antonio. A versatile player offensively, another defensive anchor down low, and smart enough to pick up any system on the fly. He's also a good free throw shooter, word to Splitter.

Doesn't Duncan hate Garnet?

That's why it will never happen.

I think Boston matches any Garnett offers, and he'll choose to stay. They have no other choice.

There's a good list this year of available free agents that have hit big shots in the playoffs:

Nash
Allen
Terry
Kidd
Billups
Fisher

I'll admit to not having watched much of Ray Allen this season, but he would be a great Spurs player.

I don't think Garnett has the personality to fit in with the Spurs, he has played nearly 1,400 NBA games, Tim Duncan hates him. I don't think he's still the player people give him credit for anyway; he's 37th in rebounds per minute and 45th in blocks. His scoring is still pretty good though, especially given the number of scorers they have on that team.

HNIC, doesn't Allen have bone spurs in his ankles that will require offseason surgery that he was playing with? I agree he's getting older and some of that stuff still stands, but it was pretty obvious he wasn't getting the usual lift on his jumpshot due to his injury.

For the long term? No, but for one run next season, absolutely. I've always wanted a Duncan/Garnett combo, and although it would be 8 years too late, it would still be entertaining. This years team with Garnett probably beats the Thunder. Imagine him on the court instead of Bonner or Blair. Diaw could be your first guy off the bench.

But as others have said, if Duncan hates him, it won't happen.

You're right that for one year Garnett would be helpful and fit into the team at least on paper (chemistry would be a huge problem) . Just about anything is better in the playoffs than Bonner/Splitter/Blair. However, I think whoever pays him next is going to regret it, especially since it will have to be a multi-year contract.

garnett is a dumb ****, but he respects doc rivers and he would respect coach pop.

also, you're kidding yourself if you think he wouldn't be good for one more romp. i don't like the dude, but he's an immense talent that would work wonders for the spurs.

if nothing else, it'll be funny as ****.

I could definitely see Garnett rejecting an opponent's shot and still turning to Duncan and talking trash to him

If you're the Spurs, you HAVE to sign Derek Fisher... if for no other reason than to keep him off other teams.

Remember when he curb stomped the spurs again. 4th quarter game 6. He's a bit older so he needed more than .4

Substitute Garnett for Bonner/Splitter/Blair and we're talking Spurs and Heat right now.

That said, this is probably about the last thing SA needs. They keep trying to add that "one guy" to put them over the top, when what they really need is a #1 pick and a franchise player that isn't 36 years old.

The Spurs need someone who has balls, not named Stephen Jackson, Manu Ginobili, or Kawhi Leonard. That is their problem if they want to get past the WCF.
