This team cannot close. And without being more talented than other teams... that is gonna equal a 3-7 record or whatever it is 3-8?

Things I like:

Ish Smith - Guy is decent at scoring, has the same mobility as Brooks, and seems to really set up the offense well.

Kevin Martin on offense - Scoring machine

Scola - Other than hesitating too much on open shots, he has been amazing thi year.

Miller - He had to expect he would play a lot this year, and other than a couple defensive slips, he has done the best we could ask of him.

Hayes - Chuckwagon is amazing on defense. He does exactly what is needed of him.

Things I dont like:

Lowry - I used to love him. But Im getting really tired of his bad decision making and forcing of shots/passes. Plus, he is turning into the type of player I hate who tries to set up cheap fouls and whine a lot to the officials. Get back to playing strong D and being a controlled PG.

Yao - Time to move on

Battier - He just doesnt have it anymore. He is a step too slow. He is missing wide open 3's. He is a complete liability on offense.

Kevin Martin's defense - terrible. But Im cool with it as long as he keeps scoring.

Adelman - He is just not coaching well this year. Leaving a struggling second team in for WAYYY too long. Not calling timeouts at the time they are needed. And he has not shown that he can coach a team to have a winning attitude/ killer instinct.

Battier has always been a step slow and a limited role player on offense. In the past, he had help on defense so he was free to funnel the offensive player instead of locking down on an island. You would like Battier a lot more if you had a shotblocker in the paint anchoring a good team defense.

I've never liked Battier. Such a liability on offense.... Good defensive player sure but a guy who can't really create his own shot.

Same goes for chuck hayes to be honest... yeah he's a hustler and gets the dirty work done but that's basically 2 guys who can't score in a tight game.... gross

Again, the problem isn't with Battier, it's the rest of the team. The Spurs won 3 titles with Bowen being one of the most important players. His offense was "stand in the corner, wait for the defense to collapse on Duncan and hit the open 3." Like Battier, Bowen was nowhere near as athletic as the guys he was covering, but he made up for it with effort, instincts, and intelligence. Unlike 2010-11 Battier, Bowen had a 7' shotblocker who understood help defense to back him up.

A championship team needs a great perimeter defender. Bowen and Battier are vital pieces, but they are worthless without the rest of a high quality team.

Exactly. And Battier will continue to be worthless here as I dont see a dominant big man here in the next couple of years.

Trade him away with Brooks and Jordan Hill or Brad Miller and get something for him before its too late.

Look no further than the sudden development of Jordan Hill into a solid rotation player to see why we've turned it around.

We had serious issues rebounding and defending the paint. Jordan Hill has suddenly, and I mean that literally because I certainly did not see this happening from the brief glimpses we'd seen up until the last few games, become a solid interior player and filled our biggest gap. With Jordan Hill in there you can afford to plug in Brad Miller next to him and not get killed on the boards or on the defensive end.

Very impressed with Jordan Hill for the first time in his entire tenure with the Rockets
