This is for people who think LeBron is a bad person bla bla. Did LeBron hype his free agency up or did the media? Has LeBron not been in the spot light since high school? Is it his fault that he is the most celebrated/hyped up basketball player of all time? I blame all this on the media and the fans, not on LeBron. There had been a count down for the 2010 free agency going on for about 2 years...

lebron did not have to contact espn to do a live show to announce his decision

also, lebron should have informed cleveland and the other teams he talked to of his decision before he went live on espn.

Did anyone else hear that Jim Gray actually brought the idea to Lebron during the playoffs (After the Cavs were eliminated)? Not sure if it is true, but I heard it on the radio this morning.

If it was Gray's idea, I still think Lebron was a fool for accepting it.

high school seniors getting on their local news station and announcing their school of choice to play college football is to: lebron getting on espn to announce his new nba team.

I highly doubt it was all Lebron's idea to do the show in the first place. I'm sure it has been in the works for months.

That said, all he had to do was decline it. Or handle it one of several other ways where it wouldn't have been such a slap in the face to Cleveland.

He could have had a whole separate press conference a day or two earlier dedicated solely to thanking Cleveland and explain how tough it was to leave, etc etc, but that he was leaving, with the ultimate destination to be announced later.

He could have taken a few minutes prior to the announcement saying basically the same thing.

Or he could have called the Cavs owner an hour before the program and explained it to him.

There were a lot of ways it could have gone down, and he showed a lot of immaturity in the process.
