I'm watching the Mavs-Kings right now from 2003 on ESPN Classic and he sucks even more than I remember. I guess the fact that he to work with Tom Tolbert and Bill Walton probably didnt help but still. The man is great at college football but was horrid at announcing NBA games. I remember wanting to off myself watching the Nets-Spurs matchup in the finals because of the guy. Anyone else concur?

I hated Hubie Brown. Guy was blind as hell.

As for Walton and Tolbert, do you not like them??? I loved those guys, especially Walton. I thought he was greatness.

Bill Walton is the greatest announcer in the past or future history of the world.

Walton gets off on crazy tangents too often. Long ago I remember watching a Jazz Rockets game with Walton talking up how Ostertag was beating Hakeem all over the court. At the end of the day Ostertag had something like 10 points 10 rebounds while Hakeem was close to a triple double with over 20 points and Walton talking up this matchup the entire game. In games he calls I too often have to wonder if he still smokes before games or is watching a different game than the one on tv.

Bill Walton has always been good when put with good announcers like Marv and Steve Snapper Jones at NBC but the chemistry between Walton, Tolbert, and Nessler was just weird and akward at best. And if you think Tolbert was even worth a damn please take the time to go back over the last couple of years and watch color guys like Steve Kerr, Doug Collins, Jeff Van Gundy, etc. (help me out w/more my mind is blank)

Some of you may laugh at me including Steve Kerr but before he screwed up the Suns franchise he was one hell of an announcer... prolly should have stuck with it.

i was watching that game and still cant believe walt 'wizard" williams got any tick on that team.

I think Walton's sarcasm is above about 90% of the viewership. Probably why he was unpopular with so many.

I know it is above Orbit, but he likes Walton anyway.

Nessler sucked, but are you sure that didn't have more to do with that you were watching the Nets and the Spurs in the finals...could there be a crappier or more boring matchup?

I never understood people calling the spurs boring. To me, there is nothing boring about playing great defense and fundamental basketball.

I guess it is the same reason I would rather see the Ags when 6-3 than 45-42. I just tend to prefer defense and don't consider it boring at all.

Did the Nets play outstanding defense too, or were the Spurs awful offensively? Those were some slow-paced, boring games. You may find that kind of basketball fun to watch when it's your team winning, but no one else likes that. Give me the 80's style basketball with great offensive players and less defense...

It's all an opinion.
