Holy crap all 3 goals have been massive mistakes by this "vaunted" Mexico defense

most importantly, USA made them pay for their mistakes and didn't concede any goals due to massive mistakes of their own.

After these three games the future is extremely bright for the US. I see why Pooch stayed around.

Gotta score that if you take it yourself, it was a nice cut back to create the shot . Just poor finish

That was a fun game. It seemed like we turned a corner last night with talent. Cautiously optimistic.

The main difference last night was the USA took advantage of Mexicos mistakes and Mexico failed to capitalize on our mistakes.

Something I've always agreed with PatAg about is that the US team needs a guy who's "The Guy" for his club team… and by that, we need a guy who's borne the responsibility for getting results for his club and therefore can parlay that attitude into the national team. We haven't had that for a long time, if ever. Dempsey probably had that attitude (but maybe not the ability to back it up?) I respect CP, but he's never been that guy. McKinnie is getting close at Juve but now it's such a backwards ass way that it really doesn't count (he's the guy they can't afford to not have, which is different).

I hate to suggest this because it's early days, but I think Cavan could be the guy we want. He's just got the "it" factor. He's already (arguably) a top 20 MLS player in his first season as a starter. I'm more excited about him than I've been about any prospect since I've followed soccer closely. When he signed the contract with City, I was like "yeah ok, we'll see - these clubs will lock up all kinds of people and most never pan out" … but after the last few months? I'm on board. Dude is incredible and I hope it continues.

Hoping Arsenal snags him when city gets in trouble and desperate

I think we're so used to overhyped prospects that we all expected him to be more of the same, but kid seems to be the real deal.

Now's let's hope he's given time and support to grow into that role and not be the same casualties we've seen before.

he seems better equipped than his predecessors that were crowned the next US soccer messiah at a young age. But, I really wish the media would chill on this kid a little bit and let him get there organically....but yeah right

Sullivan's change of pace and speed is so deceptive. The Tres Amigos guys have the same commentary about KJ Edwards - that deceptive change of direction + pace stresses defenses. He's already taken Weah's spot in my mind and looks like he could be taking more time from Dest.

As defenses start to shade a center back or defensive midfielder toward Sullivan, it will open space for guys like Gia, Tillman, even Musah, and eventually Weston, to use their creativity. Throw in Balogan's natural off the ball movement and all of a sudden this offense is scary on the counter

I'm also incredibly impressed by his strength at that age. How many times have we seen him muscle the ball through defenders to keep possession on runs down the sides? He's not even juking guys out in a lot of these runs, just straight overpowering the contact

on top of that, hes under control and has quick feet. There is a knack to winning those challenges, and he isnt winning such a high percentage by luck.

I love the chemistry of the young guys. They play well together and seem to all be on the same page.

Julian and Mathis and Cavan all bring needed energy and seem to feed off each other.

This has been so fun to watch. I'm more excited about this team at the beginning of a WC cycle than I have been in a long long time.
