Ball spinning away from her and hits side netting

Disagree. She was barely off her line and you can't expect her to stop that shot. She actually had a strong game.

Again, we're blaming the wrong players

Watched that goal again and I think that's a tough one to put on August. She was probably a bit flat footed, but two of our mids just let the goal scorer jog wide open to the top of the box without making an effort to get back to defend. I don't have any idea what our defensive strategy is on set pieces and it hurts us once again this game.

the defenders header was the bigger problem - ball needs to be hit out of danger not to the top of the box

away - it's drilled into defenders from age 5

Agree. I know people want the contact with Lacher to be a foul, but no high level ref is going to call that a pk.

I did think the handball against us that resulted in a pk was pretty soft, but think that one also gets called most of the time.

she hit her foot on a shot - and then took out her plant leg

that is a foul at every level of the game

Additionally, the flop by the dude forced Bobby to use 1 video challenge to overturn a clear simulation that should have been a yellow for flopping
Then he challenges a clear foul that she doesn't call in live action
finally a handball in box goes un viewed bc of the first challenge that ref should never have called a PK on

tell me what she did right ?

Spot on IMO. In addition, I believe a successful challenge doesn't count against the coaches allocation so we would have still had a remaining challenge. [edit rule is 2 challenges per match successful or unsuccessful(see below post). Some announcers from earlier non conference games have suggested otherwise but I think they were referring to an experimental rule from 25 season, so I'll be more careful not to listen to them in the future without verifying]

No one is saying she should be working the next World Cup. To say she bailed Georgia out is a stretch. As you mentioned, she also missed the handball on our defender that caused Georgia to use a challenge. And she missed the possible handball by our midfielder just before the possible handball by their defender.

Maybe it's happened, but don't think I have ever seen a PK awarded after contact is made after the shot at any level

Copied from NCAA.org website:

"In men's and women's soccer games when video review is used in the 2026-27 academic year, coaches can make two video challenges per game.
The Division I Men's Soccer Oversight Committee, Division I Women's Soccer Oversight Committee, and Division II and Division III Playing Rules Oversight Panel approved the rules changes.
Under the video review challenge rule, each coach can make a maximum of two challenges at any point in a game.
In the first 80 minutes of a game, officials can initiate video review only for clock issues and to see whether the ball crossed the goal line. In the final 10 minutes of regulation and overtime, officials can initiate video review on all allowable plays.
However, officials will not initiate video review in the last 10 minutes of regulation or overtime if a team still has challenges remaining.
The rationale for the rule change is to help the officials get the call right while maintaining the pace and flow of the game."

I did not see the play but, your assertion that contact after a shot will never result in a penalty is just wrong. Some refs are more lenient on contact after a shot, but a clear foul after the ball is gone will more often than not be a penalty.

well it must never have happened if you haven't seen it-

not sure how the world functions without your oversight

That was a tough loss. That non call on the clear foul in the box on Georgia was pretty outrageous. The announcers don't even know the rules of the game. That foul is called 100% of the time in the field of play, but because we touched the ball first and it's in the box, it's not a foul? That referee was a complete disaster tonight on multiple calls and the coaches had every right to be upset. Probably cost us the game but at least a tie.

On the bright side, I thought August had her best performance in goal to date. Still don't know why Fuller can't get any minutes but whatever. Bobby has had a tough season and looks like a last place finish is possible. Even with this roster, that's not a great sign for the future. The offseason will be critical for him. Can't have a repeat of this season in 2027.

tu was just awarded a PK against OU when the tu player was fouled after her shot at the goal. So why weren't we awarded a PK when Lacher was fouled after her shot?

I was told this is not possible and has never happened in the history of the sport

Referees are taught to only award a penalty kick for contact that occurs after a shot has been taken if that contact is reckless in nature (meaning a yellow card challenge). If it's simply careless contact (like in this case) then referees are instructed not to call that foul.

I haven't seen the tu play but I would imagine the degree of force was more significant than in our game.

Rules in box for fouls different than in other areas where as handballs are more strictly enforced…. Not sure our handball had a meaningful impact which is why it wasn't called. Yet upon review is a pk. A weak foul because it's in the box isn't a foul…..
