It was not Buchanan you see her come into the video at end standing at top of box with girl she marked

Correct. That's not Trinity. She's on the top of the 18 marking her man.
It's the outside mid that subbed in on the left side

It was our #10 (top drawer soccer top 100 pre-season player), but why didn't our goalie come out to get it?? It was not a hard driven ball, there was plenty of time to come off her line as it was sent from near midfield and it would've landed right around the 6 yard line.

I think you're right. I think she should've come out. Player touches ball 8 yards from the goal and goalie is still on the goal line on a 50 yard free kick. Ball is in the air a long time.

Here's the lone goal allowed from Rice game. Another set piece where the mid/fwd let their mark go. Of course there have been breakdowns from all three lines, but as much as we want to blame goalie or back line, defense starts from the top of the formation.

Agree and disagree with a lot. I objectively don't think you can say last night was a bad performance. The outcome was bad yes, no "sugar coating" that. The defense needs to be better no doubt, but one of the CB's is a freshman, the right back is a forward, and the goalie is a freshman. It 100% needs to be better, but with a new coach comes new styles and philosophy. I'm not trying to say his philosophy is to suck on defense lol but a lot of last years defending wasn't necessarily a "rock solid" back line. It was parking the bus and defending with 5 in the back a lot of times. Last year we would lose games that we never really had a chance to win. We would score 1 goal if we were lucky, on 3 chances. This year we may still lose all those same games but we will always have a chance and may even be the better team like we were last night. We will at least have scoring chances unlike last year. Yes I am new to this forum, but I'm not blind to the mistakes. I simply saying what I see overall from the whole game play that happens on the field. Last night we played very well. We also made horrible mistakes that over shadowed all the great play and performances. Inexcusable 100%. After the Baylor game some people were celebrating only losing 0-2 after they beat ranked Arkansas 4-1. Both the Baylor goals in that game were mistakes defensively as well and we didn't have many scoring chances. Last night we had a ton of chances, 3 mistakes cost us and the world falls apart. A lot of the takes here in general don't make consistent common sense game to game or half to half. I'm going to continue posting about the actual play on the field and so far it has been improving. The box score watching is different. Fingers crossed it all gets figured out and we get back to being a respected program based on current things and not history!

A little too much overly optimistic posts about kids being new and not new . At the end of the day, we got young players who probably killed it in club. Have never played in the SEC nor have seen the force behind a long-driven ball into the net by grown women. It's gonna take some time to figure out who's who and what's what. IMO ALL keepers should get PT during non conference. Keepers wasting on the sideline helps no one. August will learn and hopefully get better hands as her college experience continues. But, I wouldn't be surprised if they finally give Fuller the spot back. She's obviously got the experience and ability. As for everyone else, only time will tell. But I thought it was a crap game regardless. It takes at minimum 2-3 years for rebuilds.

In the portal era, you need to be winning in year 2.

Exactly. Wouldn't be surprised if young stars find new homes if this season tanks. But then again, nothing is guaranteed

Anyone have game tape from 2002, 2006, 2011, and 2019? I am curious about the 1st games KJ, Arnold, JDay, and Hutton played as a freshman.

I am assuming Bobby is going to rely heavily on the Portal, because we only have 1 recruit for 2027 class (2 if you count Sexton even though reclassifed) and 2 for 2028 class. We have the least number of recruits for each class in the SEC..

That tells me that Bobby is expecting to use the portal heavily. Not sure if that is a long-term strategy for him or just to get started. But a little surprised that we don't have more commits in the 2028 class at this point.

I have assumed that is why he is sticking with some of the youth. If all things are equal in ability between a Jr/Sr & and a freshmen, often coaches go with the experience. But if Bobby does not have faith in the season, maybe he is purposely going with the youth so that if the season does go south.......

1. Young players will be gaining valuable experience for the future that they can build on
2. If young players not happy about losing, at least Bobby can show that he was loyal to them with playing time and hope they remain loyal and stay for the rebuild.

either that or Bobby thinks the young players are the best players and he thinks they give him the best chance to win now or will develop and win as the season progresses.

I am not really following what you mean? Aside from the gk, where has he chosen a young player over an experienced one? Of our 20 available field players, 15 are freshmen or sophomores. The ones who aren't freshmen/sophomores are Buchanan, Diaz, Patterson, Campbell and Carapazza. He has chosen Patterson over a freshman at outside back, Campbell over a freshman at holding mid, and Buchanan/Diaz over younger options at mid/fwd. Unless you are saying he has chosen to play freshmen over sophomore Landher?

I was at the first big game Jordan Day played. 2011. She was a freshman, as was Renee McDermott. Day came in highly rated, as did fellow fish Shea Groom, Allie Bailey, Katie Perry, Annie Kunz, Meghan Streight, Bianca Brinson, and lot of other eventual stars on that team.

We go to Raleigh-Durham to play Duke and UNC. Renee started in goal and we were tied with Duke 2-2 at the half. Renee was ill and G subbed in Jordan at the half. We lose 2-7. Jordan gave up five goals, some of them howlers. She looked overwhelmed the whole half.

Two days later we play UNC and become the first team in decades to score three consecutive goals and come back from two down and beat UNC, on a Groom golden goal less than a minute into extra time. It was glorious. And while Renee was the GK in that UNC game, eventually Jordan Day became the starter and one of the best keepers we've ever had, rock-solid for several years in goal. Things can turn around for freshmen. Just gotta give them time and encouragement and good coaching.

The best Groom photo ever:

This is the best and most rationale post of this thread and perhaps season so far. I think we have short memories of even last year when we started games in 5-4-1 and hoped and prayed for 0-0 draw.

Texas State over Baylor tonight 3-1 in Waco. 1st TX ST goal was a give away in the back by former a&m player. 2nd goal was off set piece (same left footed big kick by TX ST defender). 3rd goal was a strike from 40 yards out catching gk off her line. Crazy.

While true, but you don't get ranked for beating A&M this season. But if you beat a top ten Baylor, you get ranked.

I think they have some good players and did a really nice job capitalizing on some mistakes against us and Baylor. I guess we will see how the season plays out, but wouldn't be shocked if they have a few stumbles along the way and don't finish top 2 in pac12.

I don't disagree. They were a fast and physical
Team and I admire their desire after being shut down for the better part of the match. Similarly, I believe this Aggie team will continue to get better and better don't be surprised if that Texas State game was the turning point for our Ladies.
