Norway today had a parade, military flyover and is celebrating their quarterfinal appearance and overall achievement of their national soccer team.

Norway gets hero's welcome in return from historic World Cup

If the United States would have beat Belgium and then lost to Spain in a similar style that Norway lost to England, what would the American response have been? Curious how you feel American would feel and how the die-hard soccer fans would feel. If the responses would have been different?

The US could probably win the World Cup and wouldn't get half as big a reaction, parade, etc.

I have wondered that, not even sure where they would have a parade if they did have one. But fully realize that Norway is a much smaller country and has not had much success in international sports. So they must celebrate when they can.

Just read they've only qualified for four World Cups: 1938, 1994, 1998, and 2026.

Getting to the quarterfinals with that lack of history and a relatively small population is crazy.

USMNT has been there before, so I think it'd be pretty lame to have a parade for a quarterfinal.

Regarding a finals parade if we ever managed to win, I think it'd be a pretty amazing crowd… but I mean that in a chicken-egg way… We're never gonna win a World Cup until the game grows enough that we could expect a big raucous crowd at such a parade.

For a lot of the public, they just want to hate no matter what.
I think all the real fans and most of the bandwagon would have been publicly proud...but we also only throw a parade if you win it all

I did see that a parade was held in Minnesota after the 1980 Miracle on Ice since most of the players were from Minnesota.

So if the USMNT won the World Cup, where do you think the parade would be held?

Probably New York because there's no place that everyone is from, the media centers are New York and LA, but central LA looks like crap.

Since the USMNT is HQ'd in Atlanta and that is where the training facility is, that might be the location. Something we will not have to worry about for a long long time though.

I feel like Norway wins the medal count at the Winter Olympics every time.

They do win a lot of the Nordic events and speed skating. They have often dominate all the cross country events. They have a very unique regime for winter Olympic sports.

- Scorekeeping and official trophies are not allowed until age 13.
- Children are encouraged to play multiple sports rather than specializing at an early age, which reduces burnout and injury.
- The government heavily subsidizes youth sports, keeping costs highly affordable for families.

Still think it was very dumb to make that agreement on pay.
