Aggie soccer has a light week with just one game this weekend. A&M heads to Oxford to face Ole Miss on Friday at 7PM. This is another SEC+ game that you can stream.

Ole Miss has somehow become the bad soccer team in their state, plummeting as Mississippi State has risen in stature in recent years. They currently sit at 5-8 on the season and are riding a 5 game losing streak, including 4 straight conference losses. Ole Miss is the worst team in the SEC as it stands. A&M needs the full 3 points from this one.

I watched the 2nd half and couldn't not believe how much they hacked and how upset the Ole Miss team would get when they would get called.

Ole Miss has really taken several steps backwards in women's soccer.

I don't quite follow you, Hidden. How does a win over a bad Ole Miss team "now" create opportunities to make the tourney that didn't exist before? A loss would have been terrible, of course. But the win seems to just preserve the opportunity as it existed before the Ole Miss game. I don't see how beating Ole Miss enhanced this team's tourney chances.

It was good to see the team finish chances, of course. Jasmine and Taylor Jernigan put their shots in exactly the right spot, with confidence and precision. I loved seeing that. And Mak was robbed of a goal on a beautifully smart shot triggered by her keeping her head up and recognizing the opportunity when the GK came out too far. She's made good progress--a year or two ago, she wouldn't have had her head up to see that.

The biggest concern coming out of this game is the continuing ankle/knee injuries to Sydney Fuller. I don't see how we win the toughest upcoming games with anyone but her in goal.

This was a good win, dominated a not so good team. It is not a coincidence that our forwards were better able to finish off their chances when the ball is fed to them on the ground and not having to control an air ball from 40 yards out.

That being said, I'm not confident that this team is disciplined enough to play possession consistently and make it easier on the attacking players.

While others think this team doesn't have the talent to compete against the best, I truly believe the talent is there, but they are not being coached to their best abilities. Players are not fully reaching their full potential and will simply die on the vine here. Because of our style of play (or lack of it), this team can beat the better teams and turn around and lose to average/below average teams.

Our RPI is 45 after the weekend. We have wins over 10(Auburn, 23(TCU) and 50(Fairfield). Our worst loss was to No. 100 Denver.
