Obligatory "they play for the name on the front" response
I really don't care either way but soccer is not the only Aggie sport which chooses not put the players names on the back of their jerseys. Baseball I know doesn't and hasn't for most of the seasons I've followed the team (since the '86) and I'm pretty sure the softball team does not either.
That's usually based on the preference of the HC.
Soccer hands out roster cards, which I love. I like seeing the opponent's names and #'s also.

I can't ever read the names on the back anyway, I am just happy if I can read the numbers.
