A win in the 8th match would guarantee top 8 placement for knockout phase and a bye in the first round.

A tie would leave us in a tiebreaker with maybe 5 clubs for 4 spots or as few as 3 clubs for 1 spot. On goal differential we are +5 right now.

I think we need that extra time to try to get some players back healthy and fit.

Considering we are still alive in three other competitions yeah.

Europa League sitting in the top 8 right now last match of this round is Jan 30
Carabao Cup - in the semifinal 2nd leg is at Liverpool Feb 6 we have an agg. 1-0 lead
FA Cup - in the 4th round playing away at AV Feb 9

That's three other competition games in 11 day span with 3 EPL games as well before, during and after those
Jan 25 - vs Leicester
Feb 2 - at Brentford
Feb 26 - vs ManU

Sitting in 15th in the EPL I almost feel like we should focus on those other comps. Any hardware would at least be something.

Sloppy, sloppy play today. So many passes to the other team. Richy hurt again, Pape playing hurt, Maddison out hopefully just for this game.

I believe management has conceded this league season due to injury and are focused on ending the trophy drought. At this point, I don't believe we will be relegated, but that's just because Southampton and Ipswich are that bad, and we get Van de Ven and Romero back soon. We're way out of any European spot, so why not put all your eggs in the Cup competition baskets?

That being said, no manager is winning with this present roster, so results in the cups are long odds.

Levy is amazing at the business aspects, but will not accept you have to spend big to win big. You can find bargains and diamonds in the rough, but you have to spend on difference makers at some point if you want to challenge for the title.

Just my two cents.

I like Porro, but I'm not a fan of Dragusin. I just don't think he has what it takes, yet. Hopefully he can continue to develop and won't have to play all the time. But we beat Bayern for his signature?

I think part of the problem with signing any one is what player worth a dang would want to come to the club when you know you likely won't play as soon as VdV & Romero return? Unless you're betting on them being injured again.
