If we'd done this two decades ago, we could have seen Jesper Grnkjr in gold cup matches.

Greenlanders just want an excuse to go to Jamaica, St Lucia, BVI, Martinique, Costa Rica, etc.

With the population of a suburb in Texas, htf are they going to compete?

Bring in Danes who aren't good enough for the Denmark national team?

There's a quite a few countries out there that cannot compete with anyone. They'd be no different

we Americans typically only think of the Hex or now the Octagonal, but there are 41 members of concacaf.

Would Greenland be that much worse than Anguilla, Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Curacao, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts, Saint Martin, Sint Maarten, Suriname, Turks & Caicos, BVI, USVI, Bahamas, etc.?

Not only would they fit in population wise, imagine the CONCACAFiness they could play with the pitch. They would set new lows.

The big difference is climate.

I just don't see how they can manage it unless they can afford to upgrade to heated fields or an indoor stadium. Theres zero chance that October or March windows get played there, and I doubt they can afford to travel away every window (and CONCACAF shouldn't subsidize such insanity).

I hope this happens. Greenland is blocked from joining UEFA due to a rule change about not letting non-independent nations joint (other than the ones already grandfathered in, like Gibraltar and the Faroe Islands).

They deserve to be able to compete on an international stage. Everyone does. If CONCACAF says no, they've got nowhere else to turn.

Exactly my point. There are 41 teams in CONCACAF but only about 8 are relevant.

If they truly intend to do this, allow them in.

If Greenland were to be admitted they would only be the 9th smallest member.

That would be cool if they can pay for it. Feel like that would cost whole percentage points of their GDP

Theoretically my kids high school could have a team that competes with Montaerrat.

There's always ConIFA.

https://www.conifa.org/en/

I'd argue that several of the "nations" involved are pretty bogus, but there are also several nations who play here where it's a real shame they aren't recognized by a FIFA confederation.

One of my favorite soccer documentaries was on the Kurdistan team.

To be fair, most well run high school programs can probably smoke most of the teams on that list

CONIFA is falling apart, most of their tournaments end up being pushed back a year or more (if they end up happening at all)

I love CONIFA, but some of those nations like Greenland have just as much as a claim to a continental confederation as UEFA territories like Gibraltar and the Faroe Islands and CONCACAF territories like Montserrat, Anguilla, Aruba, and French Guiana.

There's not a difference in structure between them and Greenland at all, and just because Greenland is further away from other members doesn't mean they deserve to be stuck playing Northern Cyprus in a year-delayed, 4-team CONIFA field.

I was half-joking about ConIFA. I wish several deserving nations (like Kurdistan, which also is largely autonomous from Iraq) would get accepted into proper FIFA federations… and then Conifa could be a bit more whimsical. Shoot, Texas has more of a claim of independence than half the field there.

I agree with you on Greenland, in terms of eligibility. There's almost no daylight at all between their situation and Faroe Islands.

I really do think it's about the logistics with Greenland. They simply can't do home games most of the year. If they had enough support for the sport to have even just one indoor stadium that met FIFA standards then I think they'd find a place.

So Greenland wants to F' around, huh?

Greenland thinks they're some kinda badass that can just waltz into CONCACAF swinging their dicks, huh!?!

YOU DON'T WANT NONE OF THIS GREENLAND!
