Texas A&M opens up their SEC Tournament schedule on Tuesday with a 2:30PM match against #3 seed South Carolina. The game will air live on the SEC Network.
South Carolina earned the 3 seed, but did not lose a single conference match. They ended the regular season with a 5-0-5 conference record and a 11-1-6 overall record. That one loss was a 1-2 result against #4 UNC.
More notable is that South Carolina defeated A&M once already this season. That was a game that A&M mostly controlled, but were unable to get a goal int he net. Surprisingly, A&M outshot SC 25-9, placing 10 shots on goal to Carolina's 6.
Gracie Falla got her first goal, the game winner, in that one as her 42nd minute goal gave the Gamecocks the 1-0 win.
Scoring continues to be led by senior and All-SEC forward, Catherine Barry. Barry has a team high in goals (9), assists (5), shots (70), and shots on goal (35).
South Carolina pulled closer in the all-time series, but A&M still leads the series with a 6-5-2 record. However, the Aggies are 1-5-1 in the last 7 games against SC.
You know A&M wants another shot at South Carolina as they feel like they shouldn't have lost the earlier match. There were some unlucky breaks in that one (aren't they all). So the Ags will need to put together another strong outing in this one and hopefully benefit from some good luck this time.
Ties have been a reliable result for SC this season, but in the post season we go more than 90 minutes when necessary. South Carolina should find their first conference loss in this SEC tournament. Let's hope it comes to A&M.
