Im not sure what the Dutch are great at. They don't press well. They don't pass all that quickly. They don't have any 1v1 wingers. I guess they have 3 very good CBs and solid defensive midfielder.

I would classify the officiating for the Neth vs Ecuador match as "Let them play.". A lot of pushing people to the ground with no stoppage in play.

No, because if Ecuador beat the Netherlands and Senegal, they could have gone through on GD by pounding the Netherlands by 4+ goals.

So functionally yes, but there was still technically a chance.

the freaky deeky Dutch still qualify with a loss if Ecuador beats Senegal.
the freaky deeky Dutch still qualify with a loss if Ecuador and Senegal draw as long as the Dutch only lose by 1 goal.
the freaky deeky Dutch STILL qualify with a loss if Ecuador and Senegal draw and and the Dutch lose by 2 goals, but it will come to GD, or the second tie breaker - head to head with Senegal.

If you want to see attractive soccer with sustained possession and build up play watch the dutchlands. If you want frantic out of control play watch Ecuador and Senegal.
