Heading to Rome in March and the two Rome clubs will be facing each other while I am there. I thought about going, but don't want to step into a bad situation either. Anyone been to the Olympic Stadium to watch either? Any recommendations?

I only have a second hand story from a friend who went years ago. The key point I remember is to wear something neutral. Evidently he got on a bus to the stadium full of Roma fans wearing light blue (not even a Lazio jersey) and the driver let him off at the next stop for his own safety.

Edit: Italy is one place I have no desire to go to a game. Been to a bunch in Spain and would consider the uk and some venues in Germany if the chance arose but not Italy.

This is what I was fearful of, and wanting to avoid. I wasn't sure if legend was more than real life.

I think an Ibrahimovic kit would be fantastic neutral choice to wear to the game and make lot of friends.

I have no firsthand knowledge. You'll probably stand out as it is but that might not be bad if it's easy to see you aren't a local. Dunno what you look like. I was mistaken for French at a champions league game in Madrid in 2011 but once we started talking they figured out pretty quick I wasn't. May be ok in Italy too but I just don't know. I'm sure they have plenty of tourists that have great experiences.

Went to lazio game tonight and thought atmosphere was great. Only half full stadium because still recovering from COVID. Would guess that won't be the case for Rome derby. Fans were great but pretty rabid when went down!! Absolutely go to game and wear neutral colors. I don't think you'll have problem. Singing was superb before game. Lazio fly in eagle that lands at halfway line while entire stadium serenades the eagle. Pretty cool.

Thanks for the info. Lazio will be the "home" team for the Roma game, so I will check and see about tickets. I would love to go to a Derby like that, just don't want to bite off more than I can chew.
