McKennie isn't a ball progresser and I don't think a double pivot of Adams and McKennie is going to get the ball to the attackers consistently.

I don't disagree.

But it's interesting that he's good enough to play in the best league in the world but we can't use his talents.

Looks like Aaron Long is starting again...this is just getting comical at this point. What else does Gregg need to see out of Long to see he that he cannot get the job done????

GGG is trying to find a way to get CP and Weston on the field at the same time plus allow them both to roam free and be creative. Downside is that both play themselves out from time to time which puts more pressure on Adams to clean up the mess

I think the Qatar scheduling will result in a lot of casuals being too busy with other sports, for better and worse. And on TexAgs especially, all the casuals will be spending the majority of their sports-angst mental space on football.

I'm a big fan of the idea of an AMA midfield with Aaronson as central attacking mid… or perhaps to Pat's point, a RAM midfield with Reyna there.

Either way I think we need a bit more creativity in central midfield than we get from MMA… and I've said it before so it probably doesn't beat repeating, but I think the real problem is that Adams tends to be dead weight in the final third. I've seen flashes of improvement over the past 6 months though… seen him in the box several times for Leipzig late last season and he's been there for Leeds some too. He used to make a forward pass and always move backward/maintain position… now sometimes he'll make a forward pass and keep pushing forwards. We need more of that against teams like Iran and Wales. We need him to be his typical anchor role against England.

Speaking of can't play together, you cant play Adams and Acosta together.
On the plus side, at least from watching McKennie at Juventus, he might be more effective further up the field and getting into the box.

I agree with Matt that this is what GB is thinking. (EDIT to add that I would probably draw different conclusions that GB apparently has.)

Amen. I've pounded the CP as false 9 drum for awhile, since he's done it for Chelsea, but I honestly don't care who does it. It boggles my mind that ggg hasn't tried a false 9. Instead we're on a viscous rotation of bring a 9 in, have him perform well once or twice and get everyone's hopes up, then watch him fizzle and get replaced. It's been maddening.

I'm not saying a false 9 would absolutely work… I just want to see us try it.

It's like the long pass discussion… jacking it deep might not work either, but if our guys are screwing up against a high-press you can't keep playing out the back 100% of the time.

Ggg is so locked in to playing one brand of soccer. Pep gets away with it not only because he's brilliant, but also because he has filthy talent at his disposal. Ggg doesn't seem capable of working with the cards he's been dealt.

I personally prefer RMA vs AMA midfield as I think Reyna is better at ball security than Aaronson. Aaronson gets little brothered too much still.

I think currently, Aaronson is better playing off the ball and quick combinations. Which is kinda not the tactics Gregg wants to employ
