Texas A&M Soccer returns to action tonight in College Station. They face Sam Houston at 7PM at Ellis Field.

SHSU is 0-1 on the season. They lost to McNeese 0-1 in their season opener last week. Yes, that is the same McNeese that the Aggies beat last week 8-0…

I'd expect a similar result in this one. A&M is 4-0 against Sam Houston and has outscored the Bearkats by a combined 28-0. That's an average final score of 7-0. I'll take it.

I hope you are right but it is hard to say when the other team is so overmatched.

Even though Sam Houston was overmatched and couldn't stay with A&M's team speed, this was one of our best games in a long time. The passing was very good overall with many, many well timed and weighted passes forward that created a ton of opportunities on goal. The clear strategy was to get wide with Pante and send it in, which worked well the entire game. If this is our game plan and execution level the rest of the season, we could be a really good team.

The downside was the high number of missed shots in front of goal, including about three 1v1 and 2 missed PKs by Colvin (although she followed one up for a tap in goal). The set pieces were the best I've seen since 2020, especially the well placed corner kicks to the top of the 6 yard box which led to one beautiful goal by Sawyer in the second half (textbook setup and finish). Hopefully we keep this going on Saturday and then the road trip next week.

10 substitutes played. Caroline Kniffen played Sunday but not last night. Nice corner kick by Yoo on Dumond's goal. Our keepers were a little more busy last night than on Sunday.
