BLM is going international now. All players are related I guess...Black Lives Matter on the back of each player instead of their name.

There is a long history of racism in European soccer. There has been a huge anti-racism campaign for several years now. It's not surprising that they would pull their anti-racism campaign under the BLM banner. There have been huge #BLM protests in London. It's a movement that reverberates across borders whether you want to believe it or not.

Going back to Jesse Owens in 1936, if not before, race issues have intersected with sports.
No one should have expected the current movement to not do the same; nor act like there was ever a sacred line between social issues and sports that kept "politics out of my sports."

Is your point that current athletes don't have valid grievances? Black soccer players receive death threats, have bananas thrown at them, deal with fans making gorilla chants at them... the entire hooligan movement in the 70s/80s/90s was built on a skeleton of neo-fascism.

1. Read the title of the thread. We're discussing European soccer.
2. Go back to the politics board. We appreciate a little more nuance out here. You can't just discard a global movement by labeling it Marxist.

Yeah, completely the same. Oh, such nuance! You're a joke.
Exactly. Its a huge, worldwide movement. Its not monolithic. Heck, even in that video Cullors suggests there's some differences between even the founders, yet alone the millions around the world associating themselves with the BLM slogan.jeffk said:
It's a pretty common mistake to associate everything/everyone using the generic #BLM hashtag or slogan back to the organization of the same name. Not everyone who says "Black lives matter" would say they agree with 100% of the goals of the group's charter nor should they have to.
Peddling marxism is very important. Glad I don't see this BS in Serie A or La Liga.JCRiley09 said:
Great. And Henry Ford was anti-Semitic and a nazi sympathizer. Yet we still love our F-150s.
The BLM movement is bigger than the "founders."
