Please watch the video. Morgan literally does not celebrate on her last 3 goals outside of hugs from teammates which is the norm.

There are more highlights of her that are circulating and I am not sure how to post the videos, let me try and find the links.

That video shows nothing of the celebrations. Were you seriously trying to be misleading?

As I said it had to do with 4 &5. Your videos are cutoff. She continued to celebrate and here hand gestures were not needed on 5. We beat a severely outmatches team and in my opinion was not needed.

Here's the last I'll say on this because I think it's silly.

Doing a back flip is excessive.
Boxing the corner flag is excessive.
Having your shoe shined by a teammate is excessive.
Performing a rehearsed dance is excessive.
Removing your jersey is excessive.

Hugging your teammates and counting on your fingers because you just did something that only one other person has done in the history of women's soccer...is NOT excessive.

You are welcome to post your videos proving otherwise. Until then, you're just griping for no reason.

And I say you are wrong and it is not needed. Same with what I said about Rapinoe because that was in my comment too. Did not want you to forget that too.

As I said having trouble posting the videos, so go here and click on the Julie Foudy video and tell her she is wrong

How can the US produce such a GREAT Women's team and yet have such a sucky Men's team?

Because for the longest time it was only the USA that put any effort into women playing soccer via development and college soccer.

On the other hand, the rest of the world has been developing their respective men's programs far more effectively via pro leagues than the US college/developmental teams

Notice everyone changing the argument to only discuss the goal differential.

This is more what people would expect, and do, in a situation like the Thailand game.
Again, no problem pouring on the scoring as it's a tournament.

I find it sad that so many people are trying as hard as they can to justify humiliating a vastly inferior opponent.

I was embarrassed. Our reputation, our prestige was definitely tarnished.
Tournament or not, I would never have allowed a team of mine to humiliate an opponent like this.

Was German's reputation tarnished with a 11-0 shellacking of Argentina in 2007? Was it tarnished when they put on a 10-0 drubbing of Ivory Coast in 2015? How about Switzerland's 10-1 demolition of Ecuador?

Did anyone really blame RC and A&M for running up the score on Mizzou?

I think it's more disrespectful to not play hard to avoid a blowout. Unfortunately soccer only allows 3 subs so it's not like you can put in all the backups like you can in football.

I hope Sweden beats them 14-0 so we can stop the blubbering.

As someone else noted (maybe it was another board I read?), Thailand beat Indonesia either 10-0 or 11-0. Big scores happen in international play when vastly different teams compete. The scoreline for me is meh.

I get the being happy when you score. Scoring a goal in a WC is a big deal. Getting a first in your career yopu should celebrate. Getting a brace? How many players can say they had a brace in a WC? Getting a hat trick? Tying a record with 5? You should be able to celebrate those accomplishments. Most of the after goal stuff I was fine with. I thought Rapinoe at 9-0 was over the top. The long run not to the corner but down the touchline, the knee slide and the bizarre multiple kick out was too much.

this is the most pathetic thing I have ever read on this board, and thats saying something

Tired of the weak-minded BS that is way too prevalent in athletics.

The girls didn't taunt the other team. They celebrated with their teammates. If you are at the point where we are afraid of hurting the other teams' feelings for being happy then sports probably aren't for you.

The commentator got it right as it was happening. It would be disrespectful to stop trying hard against an opponent. Respect was being shown by the continuing to give them everything they had.

If anything it gave those Thai players more practice against good opponents to help better themselves.

It's also worth noting that nobody on the Thai side had any issues with the scoreline or the celebrations. When I asked coach Nuengrutai Srathongvian how she felt about the U.S. sending attackers on up 7-0 and whether she thought it was "fair play," she said: "Everybody was following the rules, so our opponent is trying their best. We have to accept that the U.S. team was very good today. We don't have any excuse."

If this was a younger kid game, we all agree that we would have eased up. In fact, our local league does not record more than a +5 differential for any game so coaches do not feel the need to run up the score.

But this is the Freaking World Cup! These are the best 24 teams in the World, striving to be the best team, in the world. Goal differential does matter, getting your team to be in perfect form does matter, and gaining confidence does matter.

As has been pointed out, Thailand has been on the other end of similar scorelines in the last year, so they understand it comes with the territory. The US team was very kind and generous to them after the game. The only thing the US could have done to ease up would have been to play pass around, and that would have ben more humiliating to me if I were on the Thai team. An opponent deciding that they no longer have to try to beat you is the worst humiliation there is.

Thailand came to the World Cup to compete, they didn't come to be a sweet side story. When you are competing at the highest level you have to be ready to compete for 90 minutes, and they were not ready.

The only goal celebration I had any issue with was Rapinoe's, I have no idea what the leg kick thing was, but I don't understand her much of the time. Smiling and being happy you scored a goal, hugging teammates when scoring in a World Cup, those are all completely acceptable to me.

Unless the USA players were taunting, I don't see the problem. They were celebrating among themselves. Who are we to dictate how or when they should celebrate?

It's a big moment for them. It's the damn World Cup and not a friendly.

I would love to have this "problem" with the USMNT.
