Our defense played really well tonight. I was most impressed by Sample who made very few mistakes (none major) in her first extended minutes since the very beginning of the season.

Aggies played well and deserved the victory!

You obviously don't understand what an individual effort is. It doesnt mean that she's the only player on the field. Or that nobody played the ball toward her. It means that when all alone, challenged by two UNT defenders, she had to use several crafty moves and touches to create a goal while every other Aggie player watched from a distance. Once the ball was played in her direction, she was still a long way from goal. She had to individually create something that the team could not manufacture for nearly 110 minutes.

Great effort by Watt to get that goal after a long, tough 100+ minutes. That's grit.

I was shocked with the amount of space they were giving us in the middle of the field. They didn't bring the kind of immediate pressure I expected. It took 29 shots to finally find the game winner. And what the heck was up with players looking for assists instead of taking the shot? We had at least two on a pedestal that were passed over.

On the plus side, Sample played well in her first start. That was a treat.

We've got to figure out our set pieces. That's been the difference between our early season success and our late season frustrations. I think we had 15 corners tonight?

I was waiting for the ref to wave off Ally's goal by calling a foul with the UNT player going down. I was wondering if we might go with a backline of 4 to help prevent quick counterattacks and as other posters have stated earlier this season. What a first start by Karlina to occur in the NCAA Tournament. Having 4 defenders gave us more flexibility in allowing then to get further upfield and Jordan especially had several runs into the offensive end.
I thought Emily should have scored 3 times in the second half but their keeper had a great game. This was our best game in awhile in getting possession at midfield and then keeping it, but part of that was they did not pressure us like other teams have. I really expected them to play dirtier than they did based on the last game against them in 2015.

College Cup players Annie Kunz, Kelley Monogue, Allie Bailey, Shea Groom and Megan Streight Lizenby were at the game along with Katie Perry who was in their class but transferred to SDSU after 2 seasons. Great to see them all.

Playing 4 in the back really helped A&M both defend more consistently and establish possession in the middle of the field. I don't know why we didn't go to this earlier but possibly because Sample wasn't ready yet with her injury. Tough to burn her freshman year this late in the season.

I was thinking we'd seeb sample twice this season already. So the shirt was burnt as it is. Glad last night justified it.

Karlina played both games in Hawaii and another one a few weeks ago.

A little unusual for the host school to play the first game but then that winner gets a few more hours rest before the game on Sunday.

In a more northern climate this time of the year, I think it is fairly normal. We are used to the later starts in the Spring when we host because it gets us out of the heat (a little). In this situation with a low of 32 expected Friday, Tennessee is taking the better part of the day weather wise and giving us the colder part.

It's very irritating how the NCAA does this every year. Why on earth publish a time and then change it a day later? I realize they control their own travel arrangements so it doesn't impact them (the NCAA) at all, but there are other to consider. It's like they think literally no one travels to these games except the teams. Or they just really don't care. In either case, the member institutions and their fans deserve better treatment.

A schedule for human beings!!

G was on the radio this morning with Gabe Bock and said the NCAA plane picks us up tomorrow afternoon and then flies to Fort Worth to pick up TCU before flying to Knoxville.
