Two disgusting performances for Aggie players and coaches in last four days.
I don't think they were that bad... i mean hell, we even won 1 of those game. We've had some disgusting performances this season, but not either of those games.alamoaggie 64 said:

Hey Mookie, how do you think #99 "our best player" performed in today's match?

I think she shouldn't have been playing considering she was wearing a boot this week
She had 1 bad play trying to make a play bc the entire midfield got smoked
Watt missing 4 easy goals was bigger concern than her in this one
That and the terrible player rotations
NEVER saw the ball in the 2nd half !Uncle Gunnysack said:

Wasn't the second goal for SC when she wasn't in the game ?MookieBlaylock said:Hand Of God said:

I think you nailed the weakness of this team, Hidden. When teams press us as soon as we have possession, risking a foul in order to get a potential takeaway, our kids just don't handle that well. It was the formula for success by Arkansas and Alabama against us, and certainly played a role yesterday. I know our kids have the skill, but something's missing in the mindset to be able to power through it with confidence. That's what separates the great soccer teams from the good ones, whether men's or women's--the ability to stay calm and make passes or keep possession even with an opposing player right up on you.HiddenAg2 said:
Really a tale of 2 halves. A&M dominated most of the possession and had several scoring chances in the first half and should have been ahead 2-0 at the half if it were not for a silly foul in the box by Alston. Then for some reason A&M decided to come out flat in the 2nd half and allowed South Carolina to push numbers forward while applying pressure, which resulted in 15-20 minutes of dominant soccer for the Gamecocks including the winning goal. A&M didn't start playing in the 2nd half until about 17 minutes left and by that time it was too late, although we did have a few chances on goal. The set pieces today were miserably executed and not dangerous at all. The coaches had no adjustments to SC's change of pace in the 2nd half and we didn't handle pressure well at all. In fact, thinking back over most games this season, we don't handle pressure effectively when we have possession. When teams sit back like SC did in the first half, we are able to get into rhythm and create a lot of chances. If I were an opposing coach I would pressure A&M from the opening whistle and challenge us to keep the ball.
We're not playing well and the offense is flat out struggling right now because we can't keep enough possession to create the numerous chances we need to score. We're also giving up a ton of goals late in the season outside the SC game on the road last week. The backline looks shaky and Alston is playing injured. I would just start Walton at this point and finish the season because Alston is just too big a liability right now. Hill actually had a great game today, especially in the 1st half. Morche needs to be more aggressive coming off her line. The midfield is too inconsistent despite Bates scoring a great goal top open the match. She has to be more consistent on the ball and running at the defense. The outside mid position is really a mess right now with no one playing well on the wings. Overall, I've been disappointed in the regression of the team over the last 2-3 weeks and we're making more mistakes now than we did at the beginning of the season. That's not good and doesn't bode well for the NCAA tourney.
A&M has now lost 3 of 4 games to end the season and limps into the NCAA tournament with little to no momentum. We may still get a #4 seed based on RPI but it's also very possible we are unseeded and have to go on the road to an elite team in the 2nd round, assuming we win our 1st round game, which is definitely not guarantee at this point. But this team has enough talent to make a run if they start playing together and with energy like they did earlier in the season with a 10-0-0 start. Since that start, we're 5-4-1.

Seems like Asdis and McCain peaked around the middle of the season and have been losing their ability to influence the our late-season matches.
These are the reason we are not a consistent team and are not playing, nor really ever played at a high level this season. McCain, Bates, and Watt needed to lead our attack and for the most part were never on the same page.Quote:NEVER saw the ball in the 2nd half !Quote:
