It's a good result, especially when you start listing our injuries (F. Johnson, Brooks, Cameron, Yedlin, Wood, Morris, Greg Garza, A Johansson etc). I'm looking forward to having a more defined and consistent depth chart under Arena

I thought Villafana showed really well these two games. If you're serious about playing F. jo at midfield, then you need to bleed Villafana and Lichaj and Garza at LB.

Why? I like a lot of what Juergen was trying to do, but the team was falling apart. And Juergen didn't respect Cocncacaf. Arena knows the scene better than anyone, and will accomplish the most important thing right now, which is World Cup qualification.

Perhaps, but if Arena becomes more than a gap fill, it's a disastrous decision.

I dunno. If he gets us to Russia and we play above our heads there like we did in 02, I'm ok giving him a full cycle for 2022. USMNT fans have been lining for a more Euro style of play since forever, but I admired Iceland so much this past summer. Maybe we should strive to be in world football what Stanford/Wisconsin are in college football. Physical, disciplined, consistent squads with occasional moments of sublime play and just full games of grind and toughness. In which case, Arena is your guy.
