Wow. Mark Clattenburg just gave the finger to English football. He took a position effective immediately as head of football referees in Saudi Arabia. This was the position that Howard Webb held before coming to MLS/PRO last week. Supposedly hes very unhappy at the way PGMOL (English football referees association equivalent to PRO) has been publicly unsupportive of refs in the UK. He's done as an FA referee and as a result will lose his FIFA badge as that is sponsored by the FA. That means he is likely done with CL matches effective immediately, and no WC 2018. Refs at that level work as crews of 5. A center, 2 AARs and 2 AARs (guys on the end line outside the goal). That crew just got shafted as the other crews cannot absorb them. His AR team just lost their WC shot too.

Shoot, there had been rumors he was about to do this, but with a possibility of coming to work with Webb/MLS.
