Hi all,

Coming over to College Station from England in a couple of weeks and was wondering where in CS is good to watch soccer?

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

There is usually a good crowd at the Corner for USMNT (not that you care) and big EPL/Champs League games.

If you're staying in a dorm or have cable with suddenlink, you'll have access to NBC Sports which will be showing a lot of games and a login that will let you stream every game online

Welcome to aggieland! I think most epl games will be too early for the bars to be open but like someone said all games are on nbc sports this year. What team do you support?

I support Portsmouth FC (won the FA Cup back in 2008 but have been relegated three times since). So now all the way down in Division Four. We've been through some hard times recently to say the least!

Sounds cool, yeah probably just rely on NBC Sports then.

European games come on a little too early for most bars over here. Beyond the corner, you can always go to O'Bannons. They have soccer/rugby/Aussie rules/etc... on almost constantly, and will surely change the channel upon request.

You really should come out to the Corner some time. It's a great place to watch games... And it's right next to campus

Well Portsmouth may be in fourth division but they've won more trophies than Arsenal in the past 8 years. /Smith and co

The Corner really is a great place to watch champions league games...skipped a few classes for beers, chicken sandwich and soccer on tues/wed/thurs afternoons.

Once Champions league rolls around, The Corner is definitely the place to be. Usually packed when big games are on

This. I had an awesome time watching the Milan/Barca game.

Hopefully Pompey can get their feet back under them soon!

Thank you all for the advice. Like the sound of 'This Corner' place. Is it the most popular sports bar? Don't know the area at all - so all help is appreciated. Plus I'll buy you a beer when I get to CS!

The Corner is probably the best bet to watch sports on Northgate...now that I'm thinking of it, there really isn't a great sports bar in CS

Really surprised Obannons hasnt tried to drum up the soccer crowd.

I guess... It's not quite a sports bar, but they show soccer a lot and have really good crowds. They do a good job of showing all the good international games too (South American countries, North American countries, and England usually). Place gets pretty packed for those events. I haven't been yet for a Champions League game, but it seems to get a really nice crowd for those too.

I would say if you are looking to meet people that like soccer in College Station, it is definitely the place to go... Plus they have pretty decent and cheap food. And alcohol, so that's good.

You'll have to come out for the next USNT qualifier and see what it's all about. Sept 6 @ 9pm CT. I'll be there, as well as some other people on this board. It's right on Northgate... just across University on the North side of campus. It's hard to miss from there - it's the corner building closest to campus.

Has the Corner really started to advertise when these games would be on? Been a couple years since I graduated.

I remember going there and they seemed surprised there were so many people there on an afternoon watching soccer. They had a hard time keeping up with the beer and food orders but still came through. It was fun when random non-soccer fans would come in to the corner just looking for a quick beer and there's a ruckus going on and they don't understand why.And then they get into the games as much as we do.

I would think they would try and advertise when the games would be going on because this is obviously a niche crowd in college station.

I can only stand being at the corner on the rooftop at night though. 1st and 2nd floor=too many frat people.

English Aggie, I just asked you who you supported on another thread. Don't worry, see you follow Pompey! Always had a soft spot for them.

I've got some info for you, but can't figure out how to send a private message? Guys, do you have to be a full paying member or something to send a PM?

Yes, You do have to have a premium subscription to send a PM.

EnglishAggie... I wasn't sure if you knew but A&M basketball team has a freshmen basketball player Dylan Johns coming from England as well. I know this is not about soccer/football but I thought you might like to check them out too.

Welcome to Aggieland!

Oh I will AG, thanks for the heads up.

London Ollie, good to hear from you! Who do you support?

Would love to get any advice/info, I could give you my email, or do you have twitter?

Ollie is a sp*rs fan. Probably crapping his pants about bale getting sold. (jk, I know yall are actually using his sale to buy quality players unlike Arsenal)

Ahh Spurs. Might have gone quiet because Pompey beat the Spuds at Wembley a couple of years ago :P

Damn, after classes have started?

Anyways, good to hear. As I said, come to the Corner for the USA soccer game a week from Friday and I'll buy you a beer (or a soft drink if you are not of age - 21... I know our alcohol laws are dumb).

I'll be the tall guy in a white #10 Donovan jersey from the last world cup.

Bump for Englishaggie.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Cheers dude, see you there. I will have to check out exactly where it is on google maps though - as yet, I've not headed over to Northgate. Instead I've relied on Sully's sports bar for my soccer fix.

Yes, I am of age to drink lol. I'm not actually a student.. I'm actually here writing a book on the Aggies season (from a British POV) & getting involved on the media side of things.

You can read about some of my adventures in College Station so far at: http://footballosophy.com/

Having a blast.. it's a world away from what I'm used to back home.
Gordo14
How long do you want to ignore this user?
That's awesome. I actually might have an extra seat in the student section if you are interested. I'll talk to you about it on Friday if you're in
EnglishAggie
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Oh of course I'd be interested! Don't you have to have student identification though?

I will definitely be there Friday, if I can find it lol. I've never done so much walking in my life! I'm staying at a travel inn a mile or two from campus. The heat doesn't help

Well we have two options on that... one is I can buy a guest pass conversion... the other is, if you already have a ticket, I can meet you behind the perimeter gate and we'll be fine. You only need an id when they scan your ticket before you walk into the stadium.

It's crazy hot. It'll start to cool down next month, I promise! Haha. It's not too hard to find, but it might be a bit of a walk if you are south of campus
