Texas A&M sophomore Bri Young was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday.

In a 4-0 win against Texas last week, Young led the Aggies to their third straight shutout. She helped limit the Longhorns to just two shots on goal and one corner kick, and held UT without a shot in the final 25 minutes of the first half.

In addition, Young also contributed offensively by tallying three points with a goal and an assist. She ranks third on the team in goals (5) and points (15), and second with five assists.

The conference player of the week award is the second for Young this season and the sixth honor for the Aggies.

Way to go Bri! Glad to see her get this after her having a tough year.

glad she got some recognition, because her goal was awesome and she had an assist. She should not have been the defensive player of the week though, she only played 31 minutes and it was as a midfielder. Our whole back line should have got defender of the week, because they have been solid for a few weeks now and this may have been their best showing (not that they were really challenged that much, but the sips had no chances).
