Looking to buy a smaller lot ($50-$100) of older or collectible coins for my son this Christmas. He is 11 and seems interested in coins (likely due to YouTube). If anyone has any suggestions for where to look or would be willing to part with some of their coins, let me know!

Maddiedou, appreciate the feedback! Yes, I was wary of Ebay, especially considering my lack of knowledge on the subject. We are also located in BCS. I do not think he has a specific interest. Not even sure this will be a long term hobby, but he did have a coin book/guide that he asked for. From watching him go through coins, I know he pulls out older coins and looks for misprints. I would think anything older, any combination of denomination. For a starter collection, would also be fine with circulated items.

My thought is that he is looking to get into US Coins based on the fact that he asked for this coin book (The Official Red Book: A Guide Book of United States Coins Hardcover 2022) that he said he saw in a Youtube video. I would think Gold would be far too pricey for my budget range. Knowing him, US Coins that he could look up in the book, Youtube, or online would all be interesting to him.

If interested I have some proof sets, and lower end collectable coins that can get him started. Fun hobby that at times will go up in value like right before the election

Today, he finally gave me a more concise answer. He said he wants to start with collecting pennies and a coin book where you can insert pennies. I am sure he will be happy with a combination of things, but that gives me a better idea of where to more focus in on.
