Trying to find homes for these 2 before taking to shelter. These 2 pups- 1 male, 1 female - were dumped in Lexington/Blue area. They have been examined by vet and given first round of shots and wormer. They are currently in McDade area east of Elgin. Willing to possibly meet if anyone willing to take one or both. Posted on area FB l&f with no luck.

Canius Muttsis

Pretty sure that's the scientific species.

IDK… they appear to have a fair amount of the American staffordshire terrier in them.

Reach out to thelovepit which is DFW based

They will rehome them for you and foster if needed

My pittie is the sweetest dog ever. Empathic, and never even a hint of aggression towards people or animals. He has gotten a squirrel or two in his day, though.

He's nine years old now and slowing down a bit. But still has plenty of energy to say hello to everyone and make some eye contact.

All mutts will have some "pit" in them. Mine do, one iblack mouth cur/GS, the other is mostly GS/Pyrenees, and the last is pit/catahoula/something else. They all have prominent "features" but that doesn't mean anything. 60-70lb dogs. Good with family.

If you take them anywhere, as we have to with strays sometimes, they are ALWAYS mixed breed. Same with insurance if they ask. I don't know. If you didn't pull dna, you don't either. Don't limit their chances of adoption.

Good on you for trying though. Thanks for doing someone else's job and the right thing.

One word of caution, read your homeowners policy. Regardless of how you answer the question, if you are sued and they run DNA test on the dog……your policy is not likely to cover your damages or legal defense if your policy excludes coverage for certain breeds or breed mixes. Insurance companies are wise to this tact.

ETA: not the poor dog's fault…..but everyone should clearly understand the benefits and risks of pet ownership. I hope they find a nice home.

We have found a home for the male.

The female is still available.

In the canine DNA world, Staffordshire Terrier and Pit Bull are not the same. We did a DNA panel on our rescue, and it came back mostly Great Pyrenees and Pit Bull, with a little Staffordshire Terrier thrown in. We were a little concerned at first, but this is the smartest and sweetest dog we've ever had. No idea what he would do to an intruder, but if the intruder is dumb enough to come in after hearing his bark.....well, he probably deserves a Darwin award.
