Yikes. Dangerous for me to see.
My last three years at A&M I had a 1974 CJ-5 Renegade, 304 V8 (glass packs) with the 3 speed - like this one. My parents had moved to North Carolina after I graduated HS in New Braunfels, when up there for spring break my sophomore year I found it and bought it. It was a 1974 and I bought it 1992, so pretty old for a Jeep already and the floor boards were rusted out. $3500 off a used car lot and literally drove it from NC to TX the day after I bought it, real smart. However, it did make it - oil gauge went wonky early on drive but my young self just said "probably wrong" and kept driving. Lucky guess. Within a week of making it to College Station I tried to impress a friend by taking off fast from a red light on University and u bolt snapped resulting in driveshaft flopping around making a god awful noise. Ultimately cheap fix and had the Jeep over three years before selling it for $3500, I had gotten a manual Isuzu Trooper once I graduated and got a job. The Jeep was loud, actually kind of fast, and I have a lot of great memories from owning it. A quarter century later I look at this listing and get a little tempted, wanting to connect to the fun of my college days is a mid life crisis moment I guess.
These things are tractors, three forward speeds and I can idle up a small hill in second gear. Yet I'd go 70+ back in the 55 MPH speed limit days.
Good luck with sale! Looks great. A/C blows cold, right?
