I keep peeking at this even though it would make little sense for me. For some reason it still intrigues me. I have a bad feeling I'm getting the bug for a new truck.

That's why I bought a Jeep instead, but in the long run I think it'll be more expensive.

Little sense because this is what I currently drive

It would lop off 70k miles though. If it was white I would probably pull the trigger.

I keep looking back at this thread because I want it but the SO wouldn't be too happy and im not sure why'd I'd need such a large truck but its so beautiful. Plus my driveway is really narrow and its already a tight fit with an explorer and f150. So someone buy it before I do and end up living in it.

Just want to fully endorse the bullet proofing of the 6.0's. Had my 2007 F-350 DRW FWD, bullet proofed and tuned about two months ago. 65K on the odometer at the time.....original owner. Pulled a very heavy load to South Dakota two weeks ago and could not believe the performance with the "normal towing" tune. Tremendous power and increased MPG by 20%. Got it bullet proofed for the reliability....but am astonished by the performance and increased mpg. My bullet proofing included:

- Full EGR delete
- ARP head studs
- Full turbo back exhaust
- Blue Spring upgrade
- Oil cooler
- Cold air intake
- SCT programmer
- Replaced head gaskets, O rings (since it's so cheap to do with everything else opened up)

Outfit that specializes in 6.0 bullet proofing in Lewisville did it for $6,500. Will also post in automotive. These trucks become more powerful and reliable than the old 7.3's (which I owned) but with all the modern conveniences......shame it can't practically be done to 2008 and older 6.4's.

What does this remotely have to do with me selling a truck on the classefieds board? If you dont want to buy or ask a question related to buying, don't post.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Power_Stroke_engine

quote:
The 7.3 L (444 CID) Power Stroke was replaced by the 6.0 L (365 CID) beginning in the second quarter of the 2003 model year. The 6.0L Power Stroke was used in Ford Super Duty trucks until the 2007 model year................. Some of the early 6.0 L PowerStroke engines experienced problems,[3] and it is speculated to have cost Ford millions of dollars in warranty repairs and buy backs. They led to many recalls and the repurchase of at least 500 trucks, particularly in the first year.

Your truck has the 6.0 liter engine that has been such a dog and which has consistently cost folks anywhere from $6,000 to $10,000 to repair when when the head EGR clogs causing the stud heads fail and blow the head gasket and pistons. Many folks just do the repair only to have it happen again in 50,000 more miles....because they just replace the EGR and stud heads with factory.

Google Ford 6.0 diesel and all you will see all the horror stories about this engine. Truck would probably be worth $10,000 more if it didn't have that engine. HOWEVER......there is a great solution to solving the problems now that folks have had time to figure things out over the last ten years (first came out in 2003). That general solutio is called bullet-proofing and costs around $6,500. If a buyer bullet proofs this truck they will get a more modern vehicle that can easily make it to 300,000 miles and have all the power and MPG of the old 7.3's that everyone covets and that are bringing so much money these days.

So what??? This is a great truck that people shouldn't shy away from just because it has what most people think is a total dog of an engine. It is not a dog....it's a fantastic engine once it is bullet-proofed and as an owner I can attest to that.
