We can't explain it from the inside, but if something happens and someone says "That's Redass!", try and figure out what just happened, and then understand the context.

During the days when it was ok to be broom whipped in the Corps, obviously the receiver could be "very upset" - or "redass"...
If, however, he was only a little bit upset he could have the "screaming pinkies"...
It was a fish privilege to ONLY have the screaming pinkies under any condition...
And, an upper class privilege to have the "redass" (very upset) about anything...
