I am currently taking a logic class here and I was having trouble. I talked to my prof. yesterday about what I could do about it. After my conversation was over a guy in my class approached me about working together and getting a tutor. I gave him my # and he introduced himself as Detron. I didn’t think much of it at the time. Well he called me yesterday evening to tell me that he had talked to the athletic dept. and found a tutor for us. This got me thinking of who he may be, I goggled him and sure enough I am working with a two time super bowl champion and a pro bowler. Not to mention a one of the great aggie fullbacks, and someone who I loved when he was here. I got to talking with him last night and he said that he always knew that he wanted to finish school and that he wanted the aggie diploma. He also said that he wants to go to grad school and become a coach. He told me that he wants to be the first African American head coach here at TAMU... "I know that I could get recruits to come here, this place is unbelievable," he told me. This guy really does bleed maroon and said that all his old team mates feel the same as him about the school and what is going on right now. Guys this dude is a CLASS ACT all the way! He doesn’t have to go back to school and he didn't have to come back here. He told me that he has been staying at motel here in town since summer school. This guy has a great attitude and a work ethic that I am envious of, he is attacking this class just as if he was trying to prepare for the super bowl. If you see him on campus make sure to tell him howdy and shake his hand.

That's a guy we should all admire.

Detron is an awesome, awesome guy. I had him in a couple of classes my first time around as an undergrad, and he's just a really cool dude, incredibly smart and always helpful. You could do far worse than having him as a tutor!

Good to see Aggie Spirit is alive and well. After a few days reading posts here, I tend to forget that.

He is not my tutor... We are in the same class working together and also with a tutor that he found for us. And yes he is an awesome person!

Detron is great guy. He went to my HS and always was a good sport.

aaron glenn has been a GREAT ambassador for a&m to the african american community as well.

I didn't ask him who he thinks will replace fran but he did mention his disgust with the current situation.

For a Lake Highlands guy he's pretty cool...

I'm pretty sure that Detron is a cousin to Jonte Buhl who also played at A&M...is that correct?

agree with houstontexan. there is pretty much nothing but positive that comes with surrounding the program with guys like Detron. and more than token recognition/involvement. real interaction.

I rode the bus to fish camp with Detron, Pullig, and a few other of the football fish in '92. I knew who Pullig was but really didn't know who any of these other guys were so I started to introduce myself to the guys around me. Detron was one of them. To this day the biggest hand I've ever shaken! We were both just 18 year old kids, but he seemed like a genuinely nice guy at the time.

I hope he accomplishes all he sets out to!!
