Anyone remember why we made a coaching change?

Time for us to take out the trash.

Ok ... listen and listen tight.

Think of it as a divorce. You're 2nd wife turns out to be much worse than the 1st, but does that mean you'd be happy if you were still married to the 1st wife? High unlikely. The ONLY valid statement is that your 2nd choice was worse and that doesn't make the 1st choice a good one.

To sum this thread up.

We were never as bad under RC as we are now. Our fanbase was never this divided. Our fanbase didn't want to fire RC nearly as bad as it wants Fran fired.

In a nutshell, we need to fire Fran and move on. Unforunately RC couldn't get us to a National Title, and bozo the clown has derailed this team like I never thought he could.

Next coach please!

And is anyone really surprised why A&M has the reputation of being a football coaches graveyard?
Expectations?
Vocal fanbase?
Jackie Sherrill was going to be the answer until multiple NCAA violations.
RC Slocum was going to be the answer until he couldn't keep recruits in school long enough to produce on the field.
And now Fran. Nearly every poster on this board went nuts when Fran was hired. Pulling one over on Bama. Getting the "best" coach in the nation. Yada, yada, yada.
IMO, BB should go find an up and coming coach rather than a Meyer or a Spurrier. Neither of whome would leave their current jobs anyway.
Someone like Venables at OU.
The only way to improve the program is to grow it with consistent, solid on the field performance.
Solid coaching, preparation and game planning would supply that and be a vast improvement over what we have now.

Not sure why we'd have the rep as a coaching graveyard. I would believe that any university that is fielding a football team wants to win, so fan expectations should be a given.

Is it uncomfortable for a coach that is flat out not getting it done? I'd sure hope so.

BMX - yes we were because RC had the talent and blew it. Fran got no talent.

First, RC was being outrecruited at the end because he did not have the facilities (you have seen the new indoor practice field and the Bight complex since 2002). Second, Fran has plenty of talent. We have the top tight end from 2005, yet all we can do is have him run outs (nothing over the middle, no slants to stretch the defence). Also, what about all those highly ranked recruiting classes (2003-5)?

We should have let RC go after '96. I certainly remember why we let him go. Panhandle Slim can argue for him all he wants but it was definitely time. Getting rid of RC was the right thing to do. Unfortunately the Fran hire has blown up in our face. Hopefully our next coach will be the one to get us to where we think we should be, and that is not on the receiving end of embarassment.

RC had terrible facilities and was begging for an upgrade. A&M didn't want to pay for RC's great coordinaters and assistants, and they always left (unlike Fran's assistants). And even throughout the tailspin since '98, RC was still putting guys in the NFL.

If the choice was RC or Fran, TAMU made the wrong decision there. Period.

RC's "highly" ranked recruiting classes at the end of his tenure are a myth. The guys that made the ranking never qualified. You can't count guys that are never really in the universiy.

RC had the talent and flopped long before facilities were even a conceivable excuse.
