Everyone talks about how ugly it is but if you think about it they probably made it the color they did and not white b/c it makes a better background. If the building had been all white theres no way a thrown would have been seen from right center or right field at Olsen.

I hear a lot of griping about the appearance of the exterior of this building, but despite many, many requests from posters, nobody has gotten off their lazy ass and snapped a couple of pictures for us.

Then fly your lazy ass down here and do it yourself

No pics, but I installed the environment controls to the facility and it is huge inside. The vid on http://www.aggieathletics.com/pressRelease.php?PRID=12133&source=RSS does not do it justice. Nice artificial turf.

The ugliness complaint doesn't come from the COLOR they used, but rather the fact that they essentially built a big tent instead of a building. It has canvas walls and a canvas roof. We were told that only the roof would be fabric and that that decision was made to cut costs. Come to find out THEY MADE THE WHOLE DAMN THING OUT OF FABRIC. Other schools have nice looking brick practice facilities, we have a tent.

But it's a big arse freakin' tent!

After Byrne hyped it up to be second to none, as others have mentioned, it looks like a big tent. Where did all the money go for it?

Have you seen the sip indoor field, it's only a tent.

would you rather have an indoor facility or not....i mean they havent even built the whole other building with another practice field that is removeable with an indoor track and stands etc. o by the way i dont think they would of wanted to host the NCAA indoor track and field champiosnhips in college station if our indoor facility was just a big huge tent.

let em finish the damn thing first before everyone starts ripping into it

Have you seen it? It IS a huge tent with a football field drawn on the bottom.

Its my understanding that it will have brick around the bottom of the outside....just got up the necessities to have something for them to practice in!

But who really knows...

Call me crazy...but maybe the money went towards what they put INSIDE it as opposed to the outward appearance.

I don't care what it looks like - as long as it turns the heads of top recruits.

See the picture of the inside? The outside looks the same but tan canvas instead of white.

There is artificial grass inside. What is so awe inspiring about that... I think every indoor facility in the world has that.

Anybody seen that big white thing across from Reliant...The Texans practice facility....what holds it up? Maybe big fans?

That was my understanding as well. It is possible that they are waiting until the other building gets built and they can brick both of them at the same time...

Exactly, maybe the bulk of the money is for the other part of the facility. Wait to moan until it is all finished.

That isn't the point. The point is Bill Byrne hyped the place to no end, claimed he spend 35 million on it and showed drawings to groups (which I saw) that had very nice looking buildings with brick facades and what he delivered is a tent.

It's my guess that they committed to do it based on the drawings they were shown and the hype Bill was cranking out. But in factual reality, and if you don't believe me you can drive right up to it and look for yourself, what Bill built is a big huge tent and they are about to start putting up the poles on another big huge tent (the track one) right next to it.

Look I know the other one will have a track in it and some seating and a scoreboard yadda yadda yadda and I know steel and labor are expensive and I know they ARE huge, but 35 million? There's no way the building that is up now was more than 3. It's cheap pre-fab stuff. It doesn't even have real "walls". What if someone tried to sell you a house with fabric walls? You'd laugh. I don't know why it's so much to ask that for once, just once, we build a nice looking building.

I have to admit I have not been able to figure out what the final product will look like..I will wait till then to judge..I do know, it is better than what we had and much better than tu's..

The facility is no where close to being complete. The exterior will be brick, ala west campus facade. Also it will house an indoor track facility on the second half which is just now under construction - that is where the costs come in. It has a track that can adjust the turn angles. I drove by it yesterday - in town for HS playoffs. You can tell that the facility has a vapor barrier exterior and that's it. It is functional for football practices though. Be patient and wait until it is complete before casting stones at it. I am.

I had an activity class this semester on the practice football fields and got to see it being built from foundation up to where it is now

i just think we should let em finish it first before we start rippin into it.

you clowns really make me laugh all of the beatching and moaning that goes on about the indoor facility if you would look at it you can obviously see they aren't finished with it and probably won't be until the spring or early summer

Anyway, it's a big white bubble too. What's wrong with that?

how about someone go and take some personal photos of the construction? the aggieathletics cam has been down for a while now so no new pictures... plus where it's located doesn't really give you good pictures anyway.

Bill Byrne has already stated the outside will be bricked. No surprise here though, that people won't let facts get in the way of *****ing about something, especially 1876er.
