when i used to pull tickets, i found you often had to ask for certain sections. i don't know if some of the guys in the ticket booth hold on to the better seats or what. but they tried to give me crappy seats one time, and i flat out asked them for something closer to mid-field and they gave it to me.

how many tickets did you pull? And I bet that lots of people are buy "guest passes"

Junior pulls getting the edges of second deck is nothing new.

Every fourth and fifth year student, and many of their underclassmen friends, pulled before you.

i didn't think you could buy guest passes until thursday and friday.

It's not totally random.

The number of people in your group play a factor in it.
Each deck fills up like an arch; 50 yard line-row 30 is equal to 20 yard line-row 5 for example.

no you can buy them, they asked me if i needed any.

Yeah .. it was junior day, smart seniors are on 2nd deck, so that means that a lot of seniors and "pals" are on 2nd deck, what dont you understand about that?

It just means that its a good pull when juniors get crappy seats.

Welcome to Aggieland, enjoy your stay ;D

But what I'm saying is, how can that group of people constitue 2/3 of the student section???

I emailed Byrne and he says it is random but personally I dont believe it.
When I pulled Monday after camping out... everyone in front of me (to the right and left as well) all got section 231. The first girl in our line got 10th row, the first guy in the other booth got 12th row and another guy that was first got 12th row. Next guy in our line got 14th row, next guy got 23rd row, guy right in front of me got 30th row, i got 33rd row. Im not statistics major but that doesnt sound that random to me... the row numbers are random to some extent but increasing in the same section

I never sat inside the 35s until I could pull on Mondays. Especially for a big game.

It goes by best available and each student section fills up to the top and then goes to the next section. While you may want sec 232 on the 3rd row...you'll get 231 on the 34th row because technically the 50 yd line is a "better ticket."

Bring It back.
Never forget.
Randy03

Its not random..

It fills up like the Titanic .. as the students flow over from each section to section Kyle field fills up, The RMS Kyle hit an iceberg at the 50 though .. so it fills up like this.

231/232 fills up all the way
230/233
229/234
228/235

etc etc

They fill up from bottom to top pretty much, so if you see numbers in the 30s for a section from people before you, let some people cut and then get a low row in the next section, it is much better

09er, that's the way it used to be when I was there. Ask for third deck next time. The only times we used to get good seats on 2nd deck was when we had someone pull for us on Mondays.

there is an easy solution.

ask them what is available, then tell them what you want.

I am not sure, I pulled yesterday at 4:00 pm (3 tickets) and we got section 226 row 18 or some BS like that. No way, there are THAT many folks that have already pulled ahead of us.
There was nobody at the windows at that time.

What gives??

How long do you want to ignore this user?
how do blocks work? maybe a bunch of seniors got a ton of students together and pulled a lot of the good seats. when i was in school, there were a lot of students who pulled a block of seats.
Randy03

Yes, it took my buddy who got there at 6:30, two hours (8:30) to get through the lines.

Consider that it took another buddy who got there at 6:45 for the Citadel and made it through in 30 minutes.

And myself, I got to ULaLa at 6:45 and made it out at 7:45.

So lines were a full 45 minutes longer than ULaLa, that says a hell of a lot of people were in line, buying a LOT of tickets.
AgRyan04

That is highly likely. The ticket office opens really early. My buddy got there at 6:45am and we're on row 33 of 233.

Group seating 11+ is now reserved for 3rd deck only Jen, otherwise it is best available per the seating diagram that I posted on a previous post.

At 11:00 on Monday there were only 20 yard line and over tickets available on 1st and 2nd deck. I ended up pulling 50 yard line on 3rd as I hate sitting in the endzone. Plus I will get to police all the uncover nazi/lid thrower freshmen

Same thing happened to us, we pulled a group of 3 and my friend got there at 6:45. We ended up in 237 row 30 in the middle of the row.

Seems kinda crazy that it filled up so much yesterday.

As of 830ish Monday morning we were already in section 234. Tickets suck after Monday pull. When you're a senior you'll get better tickets. Get the hell over it.

I dropped my roomie off at 530am on monday and we pulled section 232 row 22. There were quite a few people camping out at that time.

Honestly, if you pulled at 3, then yes, that many people DID pull before you. If you really want into one of the center sections, you should be there when a little while before the windows open, and the bigger the game the earlier you should show up. We haven't pulled tickets later than about 715 and we haven't been any farther out than section 229.

Juniors get crappy seats on second deck. So you pull third deck.
Seniors and their groups really have the only chance to get at the good seats on second deck. sections 230-232 are the first ones that are filled up and then they go out from there.

guys guys... ticket pull used to be random because tickets were already printed and random batches were sent to each ticket window....

nowadays, with the computer system, tickets are pulled from best available seats, starting from the center sections going outward.

student sections will be full this game, excellent!

How does filling almost all of second deck constitute 2/3 of the student section?

In any case, consider that each year TAMU graduates about 8k undergrads. Assume that all of those 8k have senior hours, and a good chunk of the next 8k (say 50% - 4k) also have senior hours. That's 12k students with senior hours. Suppose 65% of them have sports passes. That's 7.8k senior sports passes. Now suppose 30% of them pull an underclassman ticket along with theirs. That's 10.1k senior pulls. Let's assume 80% of them pull on second deck. That's 8.1k second deck seats gone. Consider that there are about 10k seats on second deck. The tickets you pulled are pretty much in line with that back-of-the-envelope calculation.

Work on your estimation skills.

Not true. I can assure you that from '95-'01, the middle four sections of second deck (230-233) were given out first thing Monday morning, followed by the adjacent sections and moving outward towards the goal lines.

The new system is not substantially different, except that it eliminates some cronyism and "set asides" by the students that work the ticket windows.

Grad students can sometimes pull as a block for the season before the first game.
