Howdy !

I'll be in town for the Texas Tech game with a small group and was considering eating lunch at Sbisa before the game. Does anyone know if it is overcrowded before the games and how much it costs ? Is it open to the general public ?

Thanks !

its not open... people tailgate before games not go sit in an empty dining hall.

Hey, they are kids that want to see on campus life.

What about Commons ? Where do the students eat on campus ?

Sbisa will be open. $7.95 each. Only the "hot lunch" line, sandwich area, pizza, grill your own hamburgers, and the salad bar will be open.

Usually on weekends, its spaghetti and meatballs, chicken strips or roast beef with corn, green beans.

I work at the Rec Center on campus, and the Tech Alumni Assoc. is having an event there. You might consider that.

Commons sucks. Chick-Fil-A, deli sandwiches, hamburgers, pizza and pasta are there. Not all you can eat.

The 12th Man Cafeteria in the MSC will probably be open. There they have BBQ, Chinese food, Mexican (tacos, quesadillas, taco salad), maybe sushi and the "hot lunch" line. Its pretty good, but on campus food is over priced.

Check http://food.tamu.edu as it gets closer for menu/hours.

there is ussually an ok crowd at the MSC cafeteria before games, not everybody tailgates, especially with kids and a small group

Sbisa = greatness

Quality is not that bad, and the quantity and variety make up for it.

Hullaballoo Court in MSC basement has been closed last two home games and maybe for rest of season.

Do they still serve meals sometimes on giveaway frisbees at Sbisa? I used to get a kick outta that!

Bring a grill to campus and cook some burgers and have some beers...

Don't go to Sbisa on gameday!

How old is the tailgating phenomenon? I don't ever remember that when I was at A&M (early 80's) being such a big deal. In fact, the first I remember it coming into vogue is during the home-and-home vs. VaTech.

DecadePlan - it's in the last few years that A&M has become a great tailgating destination.

The gameday atmosphere has dramatically changed at A&M just in my four years here! It's been an interesting transformation.

Find the "Get Pumped for Tailgating" thread for more info.

Any reason why? It was open for the Citadel game. My kids ate there and then bowled before the football game.

Thx G15 - it's nice to hear that. I've always thought of tailgating as something that fits well into the Aggieland comaraderie and gamedays used to always kinda be a bunch of old folks (like me now ) wandering around the campus looking overwhelmed.

Here's a solution...go to breakfast at Sbisa 8-10:30 am and then tailgate afterwards.

Or go to the former students building. Don't they still have something to snack on before games?

I took my kids to Sbisa on game day for La. Tech.

Pretty much a ghost town, but I was glad to see how it has changed since my days (1983).

It was boring to them, so don't think of it as much of an example of campus life.
