Had the article emailed to me by a sip co-worker...I could hear his laughter down the hall right before it popped into my inbox.

I stopped reading at "it takes six classes to rebuild" - Can someone please explain how it takes six classes to rebuild a program that didn't have a losing season the previous 15 years?

why can other coaches come into a program and turn it around virtually overnight, but when it comes to A&M, it takes 6 f'n years?!

Noone, an I mean NOONE, has been able to explain this one to me where it makes any sense......

After all that, at the end the poll askes if he should be fired after a losing season this year. Last check it was 70% yes.

It was a last-minute win over Tech, a good game by So. Miss. against Cal, and a lot of whining by Mack Brown that got us to the Cotton Bowl.

If I never hear the word "rebuild" with regard to Aggie football again, it will still be too soon.

Let's get over the "turnaround" label, and just worry about being a coach.

By the way, I am a Fran supporter.

i think this is great. we have just three more years until we turn this thing back around to what we had it 9 years ago. if we strategically raise ticket prices, tape flat screens to every wall and improve the quality of our fan blinders we could conceivably reduce our time line to just 2.5 years until we're back where we were 11 years ago.

Because Franchione completely gutted the program from top to bottom. We only needed a fine surgeon to fix a few things, and he came in like a 1st year Medical Student and started removing organs and other vital body parts.

Even if we fire him now, it will take years to recover from what he's done to us.

The thing that scares me is the mention of top recruits not wanting to fully commit until the end of this season. I can't really blame them, but I really hope we have one killer season. Otherwise, we truly are going to be back to square one.

I still say nothing less than 8-4, and no embarassing or blowout losses.

You guys should put it to rest. Everybody these days wants instant gratification. Its taken more programs alot longer to reach the top than then three or four that have done so quickly.

I guess he has all three of his X's and O's now with the scheduling. Powerhouse programs like Citadel, LouFay, LouTech, and Army will sure gain us experience.

"put it to rest" = grab your blinders kids. don't complain or you're a 2%er. why don't we manage our expectations and define a good season as 6-6 and say that any bowl win is an ANC (aggie national championship). set the bar low, don't quite achieve it, write your check for tickets and say 'maybe next year'.

6 years? Has Fran ever stayed in one place for 6 years? Of course we want instant gratification. MacIII took t.u. from 4-7 the year before to eight strait 9-win seasons and the mnc. Stoops took oklahoma to win the mnc his second season. INSTANT GRATIFICATION IS WHY WE HIRED FRAN

It took Stoops, Carroll, and Tressel two years. Why are we paying $2 million per year for a guy who will take six? BTW, Butch Davis would have us at at least 9 wins next season.

Go back and look at 2002 and how our defense was basically non-existant, then look at the guys we were going to lose to graduation, and then tell me about fine tuning.

I looked it up, Byrne didn't fire Solich, his replacement did.


I wonder if Byrne would have been inclined to afford Solich the same six years he seems intent on giving Fran?

Cowtown, Bill Byrne did not fire Solich. That was Steve Pedersen. Byrne on the other hand is rather well-known for his dislike of the University of Texas and that stems from the founding of the Big 12. It's rather ironic that he hasn't gotten over the hump yet in football with regard to the Horns.

did any of you actually read the article or just peruse it for quoatable "ammunition" to start your tittie baby whining??? we started 22 different underclassmen last season at different times....thats like (i am pretty sure only 1 or 2 on this thread EVER played football in high school) putting your JV team up against the varsity... the JV team may have some studs on it, but they are NOT going to beat out the stronger, faster and more experienced varsity players...

sorry jason... i didn't realize we were talking about football. i was more of a checkers person in high school and i tried to used that expertise to evaluate the aggie football program.

i'm also not a very strong reader so it is easier for me to look at the pictures and guess about what was said... was i wrong? if so i'm really sorry.

were we the only team in country to start under-classmen? i didn't realize that.

fyi, in the big bad world of grownups where there isn't a jv field and 6th period isn't for watching game film while you skip algebra, complaining about things like this isn't being a 'titty baby' it's called 'holding people accountable'.

Jasonbacon, I played D1 football and your post is crap. Underclassmen or not, as redshirt sophs, it is their 3rd year in the program. They are in their 4th year this year as rs juniors. And the recruiting classes that these players came from were top 15 at least. So why cant fran field a top 15 team?

for the record,i've played over 346 seasons of ncaa 2006 and 2007 on playstation and it never took me long to turn the program around into a national title winner.

i also won 14 heismans.
