Yes, I have let it go...I'm just curious about this. An OU friend of mine is trying to tell me that Fran allowed the clock to run continuously near the end of the 4th Q of the 77-0 drubbing and that Fran had denied this. Dont remember this being the case. Can anyone confirm?

The way I understand it the coaches and the refs got together and decided to let it run. The refs could not do this without the coaches concent.

they could have easily dropped 100+,I wonder what the all time record is for a high score with a shut out

They had 77 with 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, I think.

Yes, they could have scored a 'hunerd. DAMN SHAME.

De ja vu was hitting big time in '05 when ou lead us 28-0 after 1. Our YOUNG TEAM then beat ou and tu by a substantial performance over the last 7 quarters of 2005.

We're back !!

Hide and watch.

I hate L$U almost as much as anyone, but I pulled for them like they were my own team that year. The Sooner fans at that game were such **********s.

222-0 is the record score in a college football game. Georgia Tech over Cumberland College, I believe.

OU could have approached that, and perhaps broken it, if they wanted to that day.

It is up to the coaches to decide this. They both have to agree to have a running clock. The officals can not do it on there own.

The officials must also consent to it as well, as they control the clock. The game can also be ended at any time with the consent of both head coaches and the officiating crew.

I just checked it and the clock did run (almost) continuously in the 4th quarter, but not before.

Since both teams wanted out of there in the 4th quarter (and before) it didn't make a huge difference. OU threw zero passes and had zero plays go out of bounds in the 4th. We had zero plays go out of bounds, only threw one pass, and had one punt.

The pass from Long was incomplete with 4:38 to go and the clock stopped shortly, then was running before the next snap for a loss of about 32 seconds. Two plays later we punted. When OU snapped it for their first down following the punt, the clock was about 29 seconds off from where it should have been.

So the clock stopped once in the 4th quarter for injury, once for flag, and twice for first downs until the ball was spotted (one coincided with the stoppage for penalty). The clock was not stopped for one other first down or for the two plays mentioned above, so the game was probably 65 or 70 seconds shorter than it should have been.

I don't have the game tape but the 4th quarter was WAY shorter than it needed to be. It was a total hot clock, something I've NEVER seen in a college game.

I was visiting a friend in CS and we went to freebirds and the game had just started the second half. We had no idea it was that bad... we just stared at the screen for like 10 minutes in disbelief. Saddest I've ever seen that place.

Didn't we lose both of those games, one by double-digits?

Not really sure it matters. If the score was 91-0 or 98-0 would it hurt any more?

That game was the most complete dismantling I have ever seen and I witnessed a 63-14 and 65-13 debacle at the hands of OU and the 66-3 debacle at the hands of UCLA.

After you lose by 7 TD's or more, other than novelty, it is all the same. IF UCLA had beaten us 80-3, it would suck the same.
