In a couple of years, recruiting insiders will likely look back and realize that Kirk Elder may have been the state’s most underrated offensive lineman, despite the fact that he’s on every major state top-100 list. His potential as a college guard is through the roof. Kirk is a warrior in the trenches and has spent the last two years completely dominating the opposition. Elder brings an impressive blend of size, power, determination, and attitude the table...all wrapped tightly inside of a 6-3, 314-pound frame. Yes, I did say 314 pounds. That’s how much Kirk has grown since this summer, when he checked in around 295 at the Ags’ mini-camp. Elder clocked an impressive 5.08 at the A&M camp, but his weightroom numbers are what really jump off the page. Before his senior season, Kirk posted a 350-pound bench press, squatted 585, and power cleaned 340 pounds.

Over the past two seasons, Elder has been a road-grader, paving the way for fellow A&M signee and K.O. teammate Derrick Brown. Elder, who chose A&M over Ole Miss, Arkansas, Florida, and others, was a second-team 15-5A all-district selection this year and a first-team choice as a junior.

Honors
2002: Dave Campbell's Second-team Super Team OL
2001:First-team all-district; second-team all Greater Houston
