The NCAA formula is:

a = (Comp/Att) * 100
b = (TDs/Att) * 100
c = (Int/Att) * 100
d = Yards/Att

QB Rating = a+(3.3*b)-(2*c)+(8.4*d)

Quinn had 405 pass attempts, Radio had 285. So the interceptions hurt Young but you can see yards per attempt and TDs per attempt have higher coefficients.

Jorvorskie Lane led the Big 12 with a 724 QB rating.

I think they did get shafted, but not by Notre Dame. One of these teams is not like the others...

2006 BCS Teams
USC (12-0)
Texas (12-0)
Notre Dame (9-2)
Ohio State (9-2)
Georgia (10-2)
West Virginia (10-1)
Florida State (8-4)
Penn State (10-1)

and if virginia happened to beat florida st, then what?

I don't think oregon got "screwed". I see nothing wrong with notre dame being there.

the bowls, even before the bcs, have always been about money.

in the old system notre dame would still be going to a major bowl. that hasn't changed. in fact, I think it is even harder for notre dame to make a major bowl than it used to be.

years ago, 8-3 notre dame teams could get selected by major bowls, now they can;t because they need at least 9 wins and a top 12 ranking to be eligible.

besides, what the heck has Oregon done to warrant all of this "getting screwed" talk?

10-1 without any major wins vs 9-2 without any major wins.

oregon's blowout loss to usc is just as bad as nd's loss to michigan st.

if you want to go by won loss record, then take out ohio st for oregon.

don;t blame the bcs for oregon not going to a bcs bowl, blame the voters. if they had voted oregon ahead of nd and ohio st in the polls, then oregon would be there with the auto berth at #4, not 2 loss ohio st.

My point exactly. The human vote always favors the perennial favorites, no matter how poorly they perform (Florida State). It's a bunch of Good 'ol Boy pollitical favoritism that, at times, denies some schools an opportunity for the sake of maintaining the status quo...

The Pac-10 was no worse than the Big XII this year. How would we feel if the Ags got treated like Oregon? Go Ducks!

You can't blame Oregon not getting in on the voters for put Ohio State above them.

Just because Oregon has one less loss does not mean that they're a better team that OSU. Oregon's loss came against #1 USC and Ohio State's losses came to #2 texas and #3 Penn State. You can't hold that against Ohio State, especially since Oregon didn't play against another Top 15 team.

If this is all about being fair then each conference wouldn't get a automatic bid....that's the big screwy piece of the puzzle.

Better than Bush, no way...but tak e look at these:

V. Young

Yards- 3569 (total yards)
TD- 35 (Total)
Int- 10
168.56
63.9%

M. Leinart

3450
29
7
158.29
65%

B. Quinn

3633
34
7
162.90
64.9%

Now, call me crazy, but his numbers are better than Leinart, and at least on par, if not better than V. Young. For the record I hate Notre Dame and this love affair they have with College Football and vice versa, but you gotta give credit where credit is due. He should have been a finalist...period.

First, the threat of Young running is why Charles and Taylor both average over 7 yards per carry (despite playing some very good run defenses in KU, CU, CU, OU, and Ohio State).

Second, Young played very little in the second half because so many games were blowouts. And even when he did play in the 3rd or 4th quarter he was often just handing the ball off. That's part of the reason he has so many less passing attempts.

Who the hell cares about Oregon? AGAIN, WHO the hell cares about Oregon? NOBODY! That's why they're not going to the BCS...well, that and money. ND is a better sell than Oregon "nobody cares" University. Oregon could have beaten a team full of Chuck Norrises by two touchdowns and still that wouldn't have convinced the BCS to select them.
