SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame has received 45,589 ticket requests for the Jan. 2 Fiesta Bowl game against Ohio State and school officials believe they've never had more.

John Heisler, senior associate athletic director, said the school doesn't keep records for ticket demand. But the Fighting Irish have played in 26 bowls and no one can remember such demand.

They'll stop crying about being shafted once OU whips their butts in the Holiday Bowl.

It'll be interesting to see. I have to admit, this is my favorite Holiday Bowl Big XII team in a year.

I hope you all do take em to the woodshed, but I believe Belotti will give you all a run for their money.

Last year, tceh vindicated the big 12 against the pac. Will ou do it this year?

This country's love affair with Notre Dame is sickening.

The guys on PTI were talking about how some Heisman voters had Brady Quinn over the other 3 guys on the ballot.

In response to the Quinn comment, I certainly wouldn't put him over Bush... but have you seen his stats?

Who's OU's biggest win? Nebraska? Who's Oregon's? Fresno St.?

Neither sounds too good right now, but at least Oregon isn't dragging in the baggage of four losses.

Oregon didn't get shafted at all. Fiesta bowl didn't even pick either team for the game due to the final BCS rankings. ND was slotted in automatically for being top 6, and OSU was slotted in automatically for being top 4. Fiesta officials wouldn't have been able to pick Oregon if they wanted to. Period.
Mikeyshooter
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I dont think ND gets in automatically for being top 6. Thats only for non-BCS conference teams, such as Utah last year.

Also, Oregon didn't get shafted because of tickets. The game would be sold out of it was Oregon or Notre Dame.

and thats exactly why they got shafted. the stupid "notre dame rule" that they get for not joining a conference. if the roles were switched, and notre dame was number 5 with only a blowout loss to usc and oregon was number 6 with a close loss to usc and a loss at home to a crappy michigan state team, notre dame would go without a second thought. see the double standard? that's why it's a stupid rule.

I think they did get shafted, but not by Notre Dame. One of these teams is not like the others...

2006 BCS Teams
USC (12-0)
Texas (12-0)
Notre Dame (9-2)
Ohio State (9-2)
Georgia (10-2)
West Virginia (10-1)
Florida State (8-4)
Penn State (10-1)

Amoung the 8 teams representing the BCS this year a full 1/3 of the team losses come from a single team.

ND did get an automatic berth.

You are correct, the game would be a sell out either way. TV audience is a different story.

I remember a few years ago, Oregon State played ND in the Fiesta and handed them their arse. Oregon deserved to be there. They have a loyal fan base and would have filled that place up. As for the Holiday Bowl.... I do not see OU beating them.

No way does Oregon deserve a BCS bid. OU will probably whip this overrated Pac-10 team the way Tech whipped the overrated Cal bunch last season.

I dunno, last year's Cal debacle vs. Tech still hasnt' stopped the country's whining about how Texas didn't deserve to be in the Rose Bowl and only got in because of Mack's politicking (which has been shown mathematically to have no effect/negative effect)

Most of the teams that Notre Dame played this season had "down" years (when comparing what they have done the past few years).

Pitt - down
Michingan - down
Michigan State - down
Washington - down
Purdue - down
USC - #1 Team
BYU - down
Tennessee - down
Navy - on target
Syracuse - down
Stanford - down

OU is goin to win this one, they should be in the cotton bowl but the big XII refs suck...also with a healthy AP they would have beat ucla... they also should have beat tcu but they had two qbs with little to no experience...if OU played tcu or ucla right now they would win both, this OU team is not as bad as they were thought to be after they lost to ucla and tcu and almost got beat by tulsa, this is the game i look forward to the most of them all...except the rose bowl of course

"The guys on PTI were talking about how some Heisman voters had Brady Quinn over the other 3 guys on the ballot."

Better than Bush, no way...but tak e look at these:

V. Young

Yards- 3569 (total yards)
TD- 35 (Total)
Int- 10
168.56
63.9%

M. Leinart

3450
29
7
158.29
65%

B. Quinn

3633
34
7
162.90
64.9%

Now, call me crazy, but his numbers are better than Leinart, and at least on par, if not better than V. Young. For the record I hate Notre Dame and this love affair they have with College Football and vice versa, but you gotta give credit where credit is due. He should have been a finalist...period.

Tell me again which conference Notre Dame is a member of?

"Tell me again which conference Notre Dame is a member of?"

That's another thing that wears me out. They need to get intothe Big 10 (11) or make all the independent teams into one conference. The fact they get all the benefits of the BCS without being in a conference (which means the 12-13 million is all Notre Dame's, they dont have to divide it up with other teams) is BS...I guess that 13 million comes in handy for kickbacks huh?

I just thought I'd chime in and say that I fully believe ND to beat OSU by at least 10 points.

I dont know Oregon can pass and defend the pass, both of these things presents OU with some trouble.

I think FS gets an automatic bid because they won their conference.

Why is Quinn's QB rating lower than VY? He has only one less touchdown (with 3 fewer ints). He has more yards.

This is the last year Notre Dame will get a full share for appearing in a BCS game (so they had some extra incentive to squeeze in this year). Starting next year they'd get the "second team in from a conference" amount if they make it and $1 million dollars when they don't (so similar to a member of a BCS conference that doesn't play).

"Why is Quinn's QB rating lower than VY? He has only one less touchdown (with 3 fewer ints). He has more yards"

The QB rating system is a mystery to me. However in this case the numbers also include rushing stats for young. Actually I guess that would lowere his rating because he actually passed for like 2700 yards to Quinn's 3600. Must have something to do with # of attempts, yards per attempt, and/or yards per completion...

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I can't recite the exact formula for you here and I'm too lazy to look up the stats, but I know YPA, YPC, TD/A, etc. play a big part in the QB ratings. So I'm guessing Mr. Quinn has several more attempts than Mr. Heisman runner-up.

I'm hoping Oregon blows out OU and ND gets blown out by OSU. ND gets too much favoritism in the BCS. The Ducks got shafted BIG TIME!

What's up with all of the love for OU? Remember 77-0? They win recruits away from us just like t.u. does...
