It's like clockwork- 1st stats, then a few comments:

....Comp..Att..Yds...%..Int.TD..Car/yd/TD...Fmbl..sacks
'02...24.....45...456...53...3...6....37/137/0........1........6
'03..113...221..1782...51..7...8..127/370/4........6.......22
'04..200...344..2791...58..4..14..151/718/8.......2.......23

1. Turnovers- yr 1, he threw or ran 82 times, 4 t.o.'s (1:20 ratio); yr 2, 348 touches w/ 13 t.o.'s (1:27 ratio); yr 3, 495 touches w/ 6 t.o.'s (1:82 ratio!)

2. Sacks- yr 1, 1:7 ratio [sacks/att]; yr 2, 1:10 ratio; yr 3, 1:15 ratio.

3. Interception ratios [int/att]: Yr 1, 1:15; Yr 2, 1:30; Yr 3, 1:86.

With experience, and an improving line, Reggie has matured into a smart and efficient QB. No wonder Coach Fran raves about how much he "trusts" him with the ball and making the right decisions.

Good stuff, although your inerception ratio stat doesn't seem to make any sense.

The interception ratio is how many passes intercepted per passes thrown. Is that confusing???

Yes, it's confusing since the numbers don't add up. If he threw 3 INT's in 45 attempts, wouldn't that be 1:15?

You have it as 1:8. Then on the second stat, it's a little closer, but still not entirely correct, since 1:30 would mean he threw 210 passes, but he threw 221.

I really wish that the NCAA would evolve to include sacks against the passing stats instead of against running stats, like the NFL does. Reggie would have looked a lot better stat wise last season had this rule not been in effect. The wishbone and single-wing days are pretty much gone, except in Austin, so why cant we update the recording of stats accordingly. If you want a pro game reflected in the college game, which is becoming more and more the case, then this is one of the last holdouts, along with the option.

Id like to see more option though, but you certainly know when its a passing play or rushing play, so why not record things right.

Thats all, a nice little stat thread here.

Reply to Watty: oops. the first one I used completions- I'll change it.

Re the 210 vs. 221, I doubt too many readers want decimal places all over, and can get the gist of the post through rounded #s, but just for you:

The ratio is 1:31.5714285 instead of 1:30

23 sacks last year? Dang, I guess half of those were in the sip game. We better improve on that.

I don't know is 23 sacks in 367 attempts a lot??

That's about 1 in every 16. So if you passed 32 times a game (which is a helluva lot), you'd get sacked twice- I think that's pretty damn good.

Lets hope he takes the next step in that progression this season.
