I'm not going to go into whether I like it or not, that's been discussed ad nauseum on Texags. But I was thinking, that is our "official logo," yet most of our athletic teams do not use it on their uniforms.

Football (unbeveled aTm on helmet/pants)
M B-ball (unbeveled aTm on collar of jersey)
Baseball (unbeveled aTm on hat/sleeve)
Softball (unbeveled aTm on hat)
Volleyball (unbeveled aTm on top left of jersey)
Soccer (unbeveled aTm on top left of jersey)

Women's basketball is the only major team sport at A&M that uses the beveled aTm, yet it is on all of our merchandise as our "official logo," heck it's even on the 50 yard line at Kyle Field. Does this seem wrong to anyone else?

the official logo is the standardized aTm with the pre-determined measurement ratios.

funny you bring the beveled logo up. I just finished printing off a bunch of letters using university letterhead with, you guessed it, the beveled logo. I was just thinking how I liked the non-beveled look better...

Pretty sure the bevelled logo is on the football pants.

This brings up a good point. Both the beveled and non beveled TAM's are official trademarked logos, but I am not sure which is the primary logo.
For the record, neither logo bothers me, but if it gives us an excuse to put more football pics up, then I am all for it. Renuel is a mean looking dude there. I cannot wait to see him back at 100% this season.

Frank, I have heard Byrne say that they are seriously contemplating using the T star on our football helmets in the future b/c he said outside of Texas, no one knows what the aTm stands for and that the T star would be a more recognizable logo...don't agree but that's what he said about it

i'm with txaggies07. It looks great on the basketball court, but it should never be on the field at kyle and CERTAINLY never on the football helmets.

A "T" with a star... hmm... Oh yes, I know it absolutely can't be for Texas, or Texas Tech, or Texas State, or Texas Christian, or Texas Women's, or any other school in The Lone Star State that starts with "T"... It's absolutely got to be Texas A&M.

I might be crazy, but haven't they changed appearance from time to time?

Someone tried a couple months ago, but they didn't even attempt to get the logo to fit the curvature of the helmet so it looked awful.

As far as the T-star debate, older people dont like it but its becoming very popular among the new freshmen and sophmores and you see it more and more on hats and tees and merchandise etc I do honestly think its the wave of the future. I think we will keep the new block aTm but dont be surprised to find the T-star slowly being phased in like it is now. Byrne likes it a LOT and wants it to be the "athletic" logo of A&M. Right now you see it on Olsen, Kyle, Tennis coutrs the floor of Reed so dont be surprised when it starts making its way on to uniforms of the small sports (plus Basketball which has embraced it)first then eventually to football. This will be a slow process but my guess is within the next 5-6 years it will firmly take hold, but thats just me guessing.

I like the T-star logo, nothing wrong with it. But we have some of the simplest and best uniforms in college football. dont mess em up.

I like the beveled look for some logos, but NOT the helmet!

From a former Texas student's perspective(if you care), your current logo is quite recognizable. I have relatives in other states that know exactly which school it represents. I think it is clean and classic looking.

If you change to the T-star, will that be more recognizable? Will people instantly think Texas A&M, or will they wonder if it's Temple, Tulane, T.C.U., or Texas? Your current logo is self-explanatory.

Seems like Bill Byrne might be looking to leave a legacy at A&M. If I were in your shoes, I would want that legacy to include championships, not changes.

From a marketing perspective, brand recognition is one of the hardest things to earn. You have spent years earning it with your current logo. Changing it might sell a lot of merchandise in the short-run, but it would cost you identity in the long-run. Don't give in.

Just my opinion.
