We didn't play Colorado in 1999.

Oops, seemed like 1999. It was 2000. Doesn't change the details.

Funny, the Ags have NEVER had a blatant call go for them, only against them.

I seem to recall in the 88 Cotton Bowl where we got a free fumble, that quickly led to an Aggie blowout, don't remember the details.

I like the Fred Swearingen bogus PI call on Bennie Barnes in SB XIII. What isn't as widely known is that Swearingen was from Pittsburgh.

Another nominee I haven't seen mentioned here comes from an SMU-Arkansas game in the mid 80s. SMU threw a bomb from roughly their own 40; like the Swearingen call, the Piggie DB had position to make the pick, so the SMU receiver blatantly pushed him in the back, knocking him down before the ball arrived and fell incomplete.

The ref called PI against Arkansas, of course, which in those days was a spot penalty. It ended up deciding the game.

Anybody have any pro basketball examples? I'm trying to remember if any big games were decided by an official. I bet a few Jordan hater will mention the pushoff in his final game as a Bull, but I'm on record as believing it was a good no-call.

The 2000 OSU game could be considered one. Sammy Davis interfered with the receiver in the endzone on the last play...no call.

It was an uncatchable ball, and it was a general melee in the endzone anyway.

Glad to see some of you have mentioned the Tech/Zebbie non-fumble returned for a touchdown in '95. That was the most blatant non call I have seen in my 31 years. I was at the game with a buddy that went to tech at the time, and he was even dumbfounded. He immediately started cursing zebbie concerning his inability to protect the football. I think Brandon Mitchell is who picked it up and returned it for the TD, but then we noticed the back judge waiving his hands in the air and blowing his whistle. I am still furious at RC and the SWC for not making a bigger deal of that officiating crew being broken up after that game. Yes, the crew was reprimanded and split up after that game...should have been publicly embarrassed and exposed for cheating. In fact, they also called a forward lateral on a blocked field goal that was returned for a TD. The entire game was a shady event. I wanted to see heads roll for that crap, but it was the Spike and RC era where both schools'fans had to hear about how "great the other team is, and I'm just sorry for these kids that have worked so hard." Or this gem "You win some you lose some." Thank god those days are over.

With all due respect, don't blame RC for the sins of the officials. Fran would have the same classy response if it happened today. I too would prefer the Mangino method of exposing the refs as cheaters when they cheat, but at the same time, don't criticize someone for taking the high road. I'm sure they took all the steps they could take within the system.

Game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals.

Sacramento was jobbed by a series on phantom fouls and no-calls to hand Phil/Kobe/Shaq a win and help them stave off elimination.

I love Google:

Analogy, not P Ag here but I can help. In '63, we were unranked and TU was highly ranked, maybe #1. In the last 2 minutes, TU threw a pass than we intercepted in the end zone, Jim Willenborg as I recall but that may not be right. If int is allowed, we run out the clock and win a huge, huge upset over the sips. THe official, however was standing looking right at the int , ruled Jim was out of bounds and the pass incomplete. TU scored on next play or so to win. The official received calls and mail for weeks criticizing his ridiculous call . Pictures clearly showed that we were in bounds and the int was clearly made. I don't remember what happened to that official. Maybe perfect Ag can fill in more details . Bottom line, we got a wrong call that cost us the win. No doubt. TU buddy told me "that call looked strange but we will take it" They all knew it was our game but for that call.

Well since Randy Watson likes bringing up 1999, what about the game in 2001, score was 7-7 in the 4th. Sips were driving around their 30-40 yd line, the QB throws a pass and they were getting mauled on the play and the pass was actually a lateral b/c the ball went behind the receiver (it was Roy). Incomplete pass called, not a fumble. Had it been called a fumble we would have scored either on that play or we had the ball like on the 10 or 5(can't remember but I think we advanced it deep in their territory).

Jason White's lateral that was called a pass this year. We pick that up and OU was cooked.

it was Ron Gant of the Braves that was pulled off the bag in the WS.

My vote is the 5th down play.

I also remember Kordell catching a TD in the AFC playoffs where he obviously had stepped out of the back of the end zone, then came back in to catch the TD. No replay in that season. Steelers win and advance in the playoffs.
