Interception alert - use of code words

Our high school team's defense used a code word if the ball was intercepted - to alert team members of the change of possession and to start looking for an offensive person to block on the return. Yelling interception was to hard to say and confusing - so we used the word OSKIE.

Wondered if the Ags use anything like that or if its so loud on Kyle Field that it is useless?

Most teams used Oskie in High School and I am assuming the Ags use it to.

my team would just start yelling "I caught it, I caught it". And then we would all run over there and tackle him in excitment that the other team didn't score a TD on that particular play.

verry funny voice of reason. Sounds a lot like my high school team.
I think that every football in the country uses the "code word" oskie.

A "code word"? So the other team wouldn't know that you intercepted the ball???

I think "Pass," "Ball" and "Oskie" are the universal terms used when the QB drops back/tackles stand up, QB throws the ball, and it is intercepted, respectively.

it's actually, osci...for Our Side Cought It. but it looks better as oskie. I played football at midland lee, and we yelled fire when we picked one off. That seemed to work well for us

bknetag - Oskie is ancient Celtic word used in Rugby games meaning to "turn the pig over" - hence the use in football when the pigskin is turned over.

We yelled "fire" on a botched FG attempt.

We used "oskie" for the interception, and "fire" for a bad snap on a fieldgoal/PAT try to let the receivers know to release...

We used "Oh ****, not again!" Wait...on second thought, we said that on offense after an INT.
