1. QB1 in the SEC is more important than any other power 5 because the SEC has elite defenses. When the QB1 is playing well, everything else falls into place.

2. He still has eligibility left. If he comes back better next year, that will translate favorably to us getting into college football playoffs.

3. Love QB2 Hart's potential, but I think having a better transition for our QBs would be huge.

I think the pressure to win out is off. Still can use the year to improve and finish strong. The rest of this season is really the beginning of next season.

Nothing to indicate he will change during the season. But I hope/believe we will in the off-season. Mostly because the alternative is miserable.

Man I have a really bad feeling Marcel does enough to keep his job this year and we replay the same song next year because Elko is blind. Growing up in East Texas every town around you knew who the qb was going to be in your class in 3rd grade because there were beautiful pure passes and athletes that just stood out. We have dozens better than Marcel coming out of Texas HS every year. I just don't get it.

Next year "this is private property" for Reed. "Hit the raod duuuuuuuude".

He'll be back next year making 3 million from the cesspool nil fund, so he needs to improve. Let him play!

That's what we all hope. The problem with that is the guy who will be making the changes is the same guy that thought it would be good idea to hire a first time OC and DC, a QB coach with a terrible track record, and who refuses to bench an obviously struggling QB.
I'm not exactly brimming over with confidence in him at this point.

Continuity, dear boy. It's the most important thing in the game. Who cares if you get embarrassed every Saturday when you have continuity and loyalty and friendship.

This thread alone says the zoo ain't figured it out either! All these different opinions. How can the zoo be a team if nobody's on the same page? No wonder it's a cesspool.

There's nothing to figure out. On his very best day he is below average and on his usual days he's bad.

It's instinctive. You can watch it from when kids are as young as 4th to 5th grade. Accuracy is first determined by whether you can throw to a stationary figure and hit a target both vertically and horizontally. Many people can do that. The real challenge comes with trying to do that with a moving target. The ability to know your ability to throw a ball at a speed to hit a moving target at the correct elevation is just instinctive from an early age. Yes it can improve with repetition, but to change it completely is unlikely.

There is zero chance Reed returns next season. You can argue Reed is better than the current backup. It's difficult to argue he is better than every QB. Same for the OC. Maybe they both have success elsewhere but not here.

Reed was certainly productive last year.. Not sure why he is struggling so much this year, but I'd like to see him bounce back next year, if he can. Will continue to be a struggle the rest of this year, because we play very tough defenses down the stretch. This season is DEFINITELY NOT all on Marcel.. If you believe it is, then you are not truly watching all aspects of this team, or your opinion is based on another factor..

We, being the cesspool, want him to hit the road. From everything I can see and from what Elko has said in the past, Elko wants him to stay. So who's gonna get their way? This is the beginning of the end of the Elko era

Marcel seems like a fine young man who was raised in a good home.
I don't think he is going to come back after discussing it with his Dad.
I think he will take the high road and will say that it would just be better for everyone involved if he entered the portal.
I fully expect him to say that...even if he rallies himself and the team to some victories in the next 4 games.
Think about it...he knows what people on here and elsewhere are saying about him.
It may energize him to become a better QB in a new environment.
A change of scenery may be the best thing for him.
I wish him no ill will. He is a good kid.
