Elko wants continuity and personnel consistency, which we've been lacking. Honestly, he may be setting up a longer term play with the team and trying to create a culture around consistency in a sea of NIL era change. Who knows though.

Who would want THIS kind of continuity and consistency?

At this point Elko is doing the tin cup thing.

He knows he can make the shot, and he's just gonna keep hitting it in the water until he does.

To really win we need a different qb.
If Hart isn't ready, then Marcel may be out best chance to win even though he probably will lose these last games.
So if Elko benches him, that will be the last game he ever plays for A&M and will switch teams for next year.

The really BIG problem is that Elko doesn't think he has a starting QB with the play of Reed and Hart not being ready.

So the GIANT mistake last year was not bringing in a backup qb that could start if Reed got hurt or played terrible.

That was the biggest of many, many mistakes.

The main reason is that Elko hired the OC that he felt was best for Reed. He felt that since Wiggins was the co-OC last year that the offense wouldn't miss a beat and would play to Reed's strengths and keep him in his comfort zone.

Elko thought that Wiggins knew Kleins playbook and would continue the same offense from last season. And that hiring a QB Coach would help Reed improve.

This was the whole reason for hiring from within. Elko was all in on Reed.

Valid assessment. And it ALL made sense from a strategic standpoint but then there is executing it.

Elko simply took a chance. He bet on Wiggons and Reed. Both terrible bets, especially when he clearly had ZERO contingency plans. Almost as if, Elko, bet the entire house on these two. Total and disasterous failure.

I think it is absurd that people now think Elko is an idiot and must be fired. Yes, he made critical coaching mistakes.

I also think he can learn from this year. He certainly isnt the only coach with a massive NIL budget that seriously screwed up and miscalculated this year. He is probably the most unlucky of them all though while Sark maintains his good luck status (Miss St QB out today as an example).

So I am not ready to throw Elko into the trash. He deserves another year to show his resilence.

It's been years since we had a multi-year starting QB at this program.

If this team turns it around and goes on another run next year then I'll believe Elko had a plan, but he sure as hell looks like he's doing his damndest to get fired and get quick access to those additional millions.

And even if his plan was "lose a bunch and in embarrassing fashion" then I officially don't understand the point of football. I thought it was to win, win now, and win always.

By this point we all realize Elko is fat, undisciplined and slow, as in stupid. He doesn't know offense and is living off the fumes of his defensive coordinator past.

Some of you dipsh*ts need to drop the fat thing
Not every fat person is a worthless lazy f*ck, despite their image

I'm fairly certain a lot of the keyboard warriors in here probably ought to look in the mirror themselves too

I'm still a fan of Elko, but I do think this season should prompt some honest self-evaluation. The adversity the team faced exposed what I see as a reluctance to adjust, even after it became increasingly clear that the Wiggins/Reed combination wasn't producing the results needed. Being willing to recognize what's not working and make adjustments is an important part of coaching. That's an area I hope Elko reflects on heading into next season.

I said this a while back. Return on investment. I'm friends with the father of a player at the University of Wyoming, and he told me the same thing.

The type of person that gets paid 10 million a year and bad mouths the best message board/fans in the country is the same person that stubborn enough to do other his way. Same with Wiggins hire he was either too lazy or too stubborn to make changes. Same with Craver at wr1 too lazy to find a good match for his skills in the portal or too stubborn going to do it his way.

He knows this board has called for Reed to get bench so he won't do what's right. Worse if he puts Hart in he will look even dumber here and we already know he reads this board.

I actually think Craver would be a fine WR1 if QB1 could consistently get him the ball

Sucks for Mario. I was thinking he'd play his way into a first round pick this year. Instead, his QB is tanking his draft stock because he can't hit the broad side of a barn and can't stay in the pocket and make simple reads.

I assume he goes to the draft this year. I don't see him coming back for another year unless he knows for sure there's a QB change in the works. Even then, I don't know that he should risk it.

It's literally says "ELKO wants continuity. That's HIS whole thing. HIS data says the most successful teams are ones with QBs who have been there for a long time."

Seems pretty clear to me. I'm with the rest of yall. I think Reed shouldn't have returned and we should've gotten a portal QB.

He is a awesome human being. But his size and speed can't do much unless he has a true number 1 wr to open up the underneath stuff. I know Reed is bad but KC was a elite route runner and pass catcher. When he didn't get the ball he made the secondary think he was. It's hard to see but coaches can see or should have but Craver should have gave KC some of his nil check. He thrives being that number 2 option below coverage or dragging across the field short and getting the ball in space. He doesn't have the speed for the deep ball and he isn't big enough to win contested balls or a good route runner.

Same problem with Reed that Elko should have seen KC was the offense he made things work he wasn't here long but by far the most dynamic player we have had since Johnny. It's a reason he was a first round pick he was good at everything he did but separates because of what he does when he isn't getting the football.
