I did not think Coach Elko would be let go for any on the field reasons at the end of this season.
He bet the season on his QB and the QB regressed, it happens in sports. Marcel needs a new venue I hope it helps him and A&M gets a new QB. Let's move on to 2027 the coach signed some big time talent.

Yesterday may have changed the odds that Coach Mike remains, because the story shifted from QB regression, to the coach.

Elko's " I need to be right" personality appears untethered to the reality of the stats.

I hope behind the scenes Coach Elko has his talent scouts actively looking for a star QB they can steal, and behind the scenes the coach is not what it looks like to the fans.

Wrong, the internal narrative with the power "brokers" hasn't changed.

Elko is on 100% solid ground for the 2027 season. Anyone that thinks different is a bit clueless.

He is absolutely 100% our HC next year and for this I am personally grateful.

Everyone else.......keeo dreaming of going thru another coaching staff once again. I am sure you would prefer to fire a coach every year.

I think Mike is learning that his leaders don't care as much as he does….. he might view A&M as his destiny, but others simply see it as a paycheck, and why wouldn't they when the only culture you seem to build is that of the money-whip

Yah, he's probably not going anywhere, but "personally grateful"? That's an odd take.

Face it... the strongest reason to keep him and what's thing keeping him here for at least another year is that it would be too embarrassing for A&M to keep cutting checks to yet another fired coach.

Only if the team he goes to is looking for a very high draft choice.

But Elko is not leaving unless he gets fired. He has a bird nest on the ground. Way overpaid and doesn't even have to try very hard and still gets paid.

Are you ****ing kidding me? Elko being here at all is the embarrassment. Damn the entire college football world is laughing at us and our rivals are praying we keep him around for a long time. It's nice having an automatic SEC win on the schedule.
